Hey Kooba fans! Today I lucked into a Carla in black, NWT, on eBay for 90 bucks!! I had this bag back in the day and ever since I sold it, I wanted to shoot myself. 😃 Best leather ever!! Seller has shipped already and I can't wait to get it. They don't make em like this anymore and this time, I am NOT selling it. 😍

I know this thread is old but I am also a huge fan of older Koobas? What the heck happened....I have been out of the purse scene for a little while as I have two toddlers so now carry a very stylish JuJuBe BFF Diaper bag, which I can say has served itself well for myself and my littles. Anyway I am starting to dabble back to build my purse collection as one is almost out of diapers and the other will be soon also. I am really disappointed in the newer Kooba bags? What happened to the leather that was nice smooshy and melted like butter on your arm? I keep a eye out for the older ones in good shape but just can not find a good new one that I even like in style...Kooba you have really fell off...why and I wish you would of stayed keeping your bags more pricey and beautiful as they were...now they honestly look cheap and the designs are just blah! If any Kooba employees look at these posts you had a lot of followers and now were jumping ship. BRING BAG THE OLD LOVELY KOOBAS....Lucy, Marcelle, Natasha, Ada to name a few and the only ones on the newer side that I have liked are the Blake, Tracy but I just purchased a new with tags Orchid and it was horrible...I sent it right back. The leather screamed I look cheap and the middle clasp part was even off center and sat funny. Oh, I wish this didn't happen. If anyone can steer me towards another designer that is similar to the old Koobas that would be great. I also enjoy the old Gustto Bags...Parina and Setela are two f my favs and I did have a Pama bag that was pretty decent. But even Gustto sort of fell of and have a line of cheap non leather bags just like Kooba did and their designs also lacked creativity and started to look cheap....makes me sad...:0(

I know what you mean. I was sorting through my purses today, and discovered my original Koobas - the Sienna and Lucy. They were my first real "grown up" bags in that they cost way more than I usually spent. The Sienna has seen it's better days and will go to goodwill but I think I might keep the Lucy. it's still a great bag. I also uncovered some Botkier and Rafe New York bags. They always had such great designs -- and sample sales too.

I'm searching for a new favorite these days too. I was into MZ Wallace for awhile but in their recent designs have been lackluster. My current everyday bag is a Reed Krakoff hobo bag. It's alright but I spent too much money on it...

I recently saw a Jonnie in TJ Maxx (for well over $200 still) and it was horrifying -- the thing looked like a deflated balloon. The leather was thin and the stitching was rough, with threads sticking out. No more metal nameplates inside, either -- it was cloth.

I have 2 Johnnies that I purchased thru Zappos a couple of years ago. I luv them both. Leather soft. Sure, the bag puddles, but I fully expected it to do just that. I would never part with either of them. I don't see any more Koobas on Zappos anymore, though.

The ones I had seen -- and coveted -- a couple of years back sound like yours, with soft, puddly leather. This one a month or so ago in TJ Maxx was just junk. The leather wasn't puddly - it was just really thin and cheap-feeling. You're lucky to have bought yours when you did. I should have grabbed one when I had the chance.

I know. BIg difference! I will never part with my Sienna, Jessie, or my Johnnies (and there really is a big difference in the older Kooba leathers). Miss the good stuff.
