Ok, you ladies have got to tell me - Re: Jobs

I work at the power company as a technical assistant. I do payroll, filing and just about everything in between. It pays pretty well but my hours are cut right now so that has severely cut into my spending money!!

I'm working on becoming a wedding coordinator though. I am planning my first wedding right now actually. It's my brothers, so of course I'm doing it for free. lol Hopefully it all works out & I'm able to get my business off the ground!

I defnitely need to learn the trick to getting DBF to support my shoe addiction but he would :wtf: if he knew what I spent on shoes!!

I am in Human Resources and DH is an engineer. QUOTE]

Well this is a coincidence! I am also in Human Resources and DH is a partner in a structural engineering firm. He thankfully takes care of most bills, my car is paid off so really I pay for groceries, household items, gifts, saving for our trip and whatever is left is my shopping money.

Luckily, he totally understands the addiction and when he started saying "that's it?" when the price was under $1000 it confirmed that my training was working :P.

However, since he bought me my UHG Chanel bag I'm trying to really be good and save, save, save! And seriously, once our family becomes a family of 3 (soon we hope!) I know I will be spending less on myself so I'm stocking up now!

Too funny. My DH is the same way - if it is under $800 or so he considers it a bargain now. He has come such a long way since he balked at my spending $200 on a pair of shoes when we first met...

Business manager in a non-profit. Salary is definitely meager compared to past for-profit jobs. But like everyone else, It's how you juggle your funds. My massage therapist probably thinks I've dropped off the face of this earth since I stopped going to him to start reallocating the funds to my shoes. DF and soon to be DH has asked me to stop spending on shoes so we can focus on wedding stuff. So the CL shopping has taken a hiatus for awhile.

I have thought about going into a side business doing event planning (primarily wedding planning to start but hopefully business events in the future). After encountering my first bridezilla and all her demands and expectations, this side business doesn't sound as appealing as it originally sounded.

I am an engineer at an oil company, single and living at home with only a few bills to pay. I am trying to save up for a large downpayment on a house, so my money is not *supposed* to be going towards so many fun things... but I know the CL buying (along with everything else) will be severely limited when I have a house and a family, so I'm trying to enjoy myself a bit right now.

I love this thread also...I am a medical rep with 2 young children, having taken a pay cut to work 4 days a week instead of 5 so that i can spend a little more time with the kids means my "spare" cash for shoes and bags is not as much as it used to be.

im a college kid in the nursing program that works as a scrub/surgical tech
the only bills I have is car payment/insurance and like 2 cc (rent/school is paid by scholarship)
i manage my money well and I scour almost everyday for good deals
i dont think iv ever paid full price

Great to see some nurses on this forum. I am a pediatric nurse and work part-time as a nursing instructor. I always get my CLs on sale so they usually don't cost that much. Also, I am always working over 40hrs so I can save and shop at the same time. My sisters are also CL fans and one is a pharmacist and the other a resident physician. Overall, if you by them at 40-60% they average around 300-600.00 which does not make them so expensive.:graucho:

I am single with no kids. I am a Sales Executive for a very large software company. My base salary is enough to pay bills like mortgage and car payment. I use my commission to pay for my Louboutin habit. My job comes with a ton of travel which isn't fun, but it gives me a chance to wear all of my Loubies. You would be suprised how many of my female customers share my Louboutin habit.

:ghi5: (I wish)
i'm a kept woman. it's the only way to go.
Ya know, and I thought I was her type, lol

I keep trying to get Angelina Jolie to adopt me, but it's just not working.

Ummmm, okay.....we have an ivy in the building?!?!?
Get a top-tier MBA, then bust your keister at your post-MBA jobs. That worked for me to be able to buy a couple pairs of new Loubies a year and a few pairs of ebay Loubies a year, along with various purchases of other brands and various handbag purchases without having to scrimp on food, travel or anything else! :P

Heeeey R, the story of my life too.....
I worked really hard .....I buy designer clothes at last markdown .....
I don't have children and am not married, so all my money goes to me. I pay all my bills and save for important stuff, like retirement and a home, so not all my extra $ goes to CL. I have a great collection, but it's not big by any means. I just don't buy any shoe unless I really love it and luckily am not hugely addicted (at least I don't think I am ).

I am a geologist & project manager for an environmental consulting firm. No kids, unless the dog and cat count, at this time. DH and I pay all our bills, have our cars paid in full, save regularly, and anything left over goes to our individual fun money accounts. I like CLs...he likes guitars...we call it a draw!

That must be so awesome to have sisters who all share CL love. Is it a friendly competition to see who gets what or do you all have different style tastes?

Private thanks to going the instructor route, so many are needed these days to teach the new class coming in like myself!

Lol, same here. If our next purchase is less than 1k, we don't really think about it. No kids, no student loans, no vehicle payments, no rent. Just bills and a mortgage.

I'm a program manager. Nothing special.

But I only have one pair right now....

YAY environmental consultants! :ghi5: I'm an air quality specialist myself.
