My engagement ring setting is platinum. The wedding band I love is in white gold. My jeweler can also make it in platinum... but in white gold, it is already double what we thought we would spend on my ring, so platinum will cost even more...

Are there any problems having a white gold wedding band with a platinum e-ring? Will the metals wear differently? They looked fine next to each other...

IKWYM...platinum has gotten so expensive! My e-ring is platinum and my wedding band is white gold and I've never had a problem. Plus, unless I really analyze the band in bright sunlight and squint a lot too, I can't see any measurable difference in the color.

Maybe you could get the white gold now and later on in life have it reset in platinum if you like.

Do you have pictues? I can never get enough of looking at pretty rings!

My SIL's engagement ring is platinum but her wedding band is white gold. I cannot tell a difference and neither can she. She only knows because she was there when she bought it. I say go for the white gold: you can spend more money on the diamonds then.

My ring is actually made of both. My band is white gold and we used platinum for the prongs. You definitely can't tell a difference in color. I was talking about how they may wear rubbing against one another.

Just for the record ;)

I think that's a good idea. I've heard that platinum is stronger so it would make your diamond more secure.

So it sounds like I should be ok! Thanks, girls!!!

I think I am OK if there is a slight difference in color in bright lighting. There isn't too much metal showing on either band, because both have diamonds, so there isn't much metal of the bands showing.

However, I was nervous about it maybe wearing differently, like damaging each other, I guess... but if the worst is that I have to have it redipped a little more often, I think I can deal with that! The difference in prices is significant, and like I said, I am already over my modest budget! There were pretty rings in my budget, but nothing that I LOVED. And the very last one I tried on, my FI & I knew was the one, and my jeweler was like wow, I never would have suggested that, but it is perfect. But if I HAD to have it in platinum, we really would have to rethink the purchase at this point in our lives.

I don't have pictures yet, but when I do, I will post them! Makes me want to get married earlier just to get to wear a new ring!

Thank you for all of the help and making me more comfortable with the decision!
