I feel for his wife and family! He was . . . reckless to say the least, but it was clear that he loved animals! (You might say, in a weird way, he died doing what he loved!) That doesn't make it any less horrible, but it might be some comfort to some people.

Oh my gosh..I always liked him!
And I loved when he'd go on the late night shows with animals..

that's so sad, but not unbelivable, that guy was so wonderfully zany.
i hope his family deals well and has a ton of support.
the worst part from all of the reports I've just read, is that his wife doesn't know yet.
She's on a trek in some mountain range.

Oh that's horrible if his wife is unreachable! And true it's not unbelievable, like Timothy Treadwell and his love for grizzlies that ultimately was his doom. That documentary, Grizzly Man, still haunts me.

Well, they were filming a documentary when this happened.
Eventually, there will be a bio/documentary on Steve Irwin too, they'll incorporate this footage into it.
My kids loved him so much.
They are going to be so sad tomorrow morning.
