i think so also. we have come here not only to talk about purses but to talk with others about other things they might have in common with us or even be able to ask advice about things. I found this place to be an enjoyable one until i found that with no explanation 2 of the threads i actively were participating in were closed for no reason. Many of us come here to escape reality from all the things that go on in our everyday lives, and we come on here to take a breather and talk amongst other people. To me at times its like therapy. We can come and talk about what is going on with us and not worrying about the judgement we might get from people we might actually know, or might be bias. *sigh* I see nothing wrong with having a thread to talk about anything, since i thought thats what general discussion means, unless i am mistaken?

What about all the other chat threads? That's basically what they were... Why is it ok for some people to have their own chat thread, but not others? :shrugs:

 Chat threads are fun, and always drama-free. I guess if some members started arguing or discussed political/religious topics then they would need to be closed.
The "When you are the last person to post on a thread do you feel like..." is a perfect example of random and fun chatting and it's not closed. :shrugs:

Please note. I did not intend this thread as a venue for drama. It is here because there are far too many people who want to know the answer to this question for me to PM them all with the link. Once interested parties are made aware of the location of the Feedback thread (which is posted in the proper place as per tPF rules) this thread can be closed. I'm sure it will be regardless.

Yeah, and even if the subjects are a little silly i don't see why we are being taken away from that? Some people wanna join in a chat about a certain type of shoe or clothing brand, others want to talk only about their BMW's, we were being silly and having a grand time at it.

I forgot about that thread. That one is totally off topic. But I could care less. The members in there who have bonded use that thread to get together. whats wrong with that? we were having fun in the boring thread. we all have the same sense of humor. I'm kinda disillusioned I must say.
all we need is an explanation. surely whoever closed those threads is still here right?

The boring thread was drama-free and so was the shoe polish thread. There are many threads that veer off topic and are not closed and the shoe polish thread occupied several hundred pages before being closed. It makes no sense and I find it particularly offensive that (unlike other threads that are closed) this one was closed without so much as a word from the responsible moderator. If threads are going to be closed, a reason should be supplied so that people understand what was done wrong and so the matter can be taken up via PM without having to resort to open drama to get an explanation.

Closing a thread without a word from the mod doing the closing makes it appear that the thread is closed based on personal whim and/or favoritism with no regard for the actual rules of the forum.

 Every thread i have ever seen closed always had an explanation as the last post. these 2 were closed without warning, and also suddenly with no explanation given.

in the past if a thread went off topic, the mod would step in and redirect it back to topic. the thread was kept open. lots of threads veer off a little but they do go back to topic eventually. its just like a normal conversation. people veer off a little, so what? I'm so bummed right now. I've been here for 2 years and have never experienced something like this unless it was a thread that was getting overheated or political, pornographic or outright attacking someone.

I think you are just causing more drama...I read that thread and it was completely off topic...You should take this up with a Mod

Uhm, no.

I don't know what thread you read but the latest one that was just closed "the boring one" was on topic the entire time. As for the shoe polish one, yes that one was...but that is besides the point. If the mod who closed it indeed felt it needed to be closed they could have given the explanation themselves like done in every other thread that is closed.
