Hello, this is my first time posting and I hope my question is in the right thread. But I have bought three pre-loved leather bags from three different sellers and all three of these bags arrived with the same odor. But the odor is not from the inside but from the outside of the bag. I can't explain the smell but it's definitely not a leather smell. It's almost like a perfume like smell but I don't think its perfume. I don't have any pets but I'm wondering if the smell is from an animal? In one of the pre-loved bags, it came with a ton of hair, definitely not human hair but from an animal, maybe a cat? I am wondering if anyone has also experienced having odors on the outside of the bag, not so much from the inside. And if anyone might know what the smell is? I wish I can describe the smell better but it's just so hard to explain the odor. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to TPF! I've gotten bags where we can't quite figure out what the odour is from, I'm guessing it may just be general storage odours, whether from the original owner's storage or the reseller's. Here's a couple links for you to take a look at:

In addition to the advice in the other threads, I suggest leaving it out of the dust bag (but out of direct sunlight) to air out. Maybe wipe it down with a damp alcohol free cloth. If there's an odor inside too, what's worked for me was putting in a couple of scented dryer sheets.
