I’m considering my first CSGM since I will be visiting some colder climates this winter for work. How are they quality wise now? I recall a few years ago there was a pilling problem. TIA.

Is the size overwhelming with bulkier winter clothes? Or do you find the amount of fabric to be a welcome addition?

I don't find the size overwhelming at all. In fact, I find them to be thinner than the normal scarves I wear in the cold Northeast winter. That doesn't mean that they are less "warm", but if it's a really cold day, I prefer super thick scarves for my commute. I use CSGM's year round but actually prefer wearing them in the Fall/Spring and as a shawl in the summer.

They really can't be beat as a shawl in cold AC in the summer. I can be (relatively) comfortable in a tank top outside and then drop a shawl round my shoulders inside and be very comfortable instead of freezing my *** off.

I haven't bought a CSGM from this season but I would not call them hearty. They are prone to snagging, how much is dependent on the current season. I would only buy another CSGM if the designs are spectacular. For the price they do not hold up as well as other H scarves /shawls. Please try them on yourself and get a feel for the fabric.:flowers:

I don't find them overwhelming at all and actually prefer them to regular winter scarves. I like the layers the CSGM format provides, it helps keep me warm and there are so many ways to tie them without feeling bulky.

Thanks for the advice and insight. I am concerned about the durability of these scarves. I’ve only touched the fabric but never bothered trying one on. I live in a warm place so I never saw the need for one...until now. I do have a few 140cm silks too so we will see.
