Nylon Vs Canvas

Did a search to see if this has been directly addressed, but I think most threads I saw are designer specific regarding this topic...


For a casual “do everything” bag- Nylon or Canvas? Which do you prefer, and why?

I use my kipling and its made of nylon. I like it because i can use it rain or shine. I use canvas only during occasions or weekends.

I like the look and feel of nylon more . It looks nobler and more elegant in a sporty way

If I want a light bag or something I don't have to baby I go for nylon (Longchamp Le Pliage or DAY Gweneth bag). For other times I might go for leather of nylon.
For travel I've used mostly nylon - the only leather bags that I use for travel are Longchamp LP Cuir Medium and Mini. The leather is so light and durable that I don't have to worry.

Nylon for sure. Nylon bags are super lightweight, durable and can be thrown around, carried in the rain, used on the beach or amusement parks and stuffed in luggage.

Lots of votes for nylon- do you all prefer black? Or are brighter/lighter colors just as durable, in your experience?

I'm just sitting on the bus on my way home from work. I have my 13 yr old LC LP in Chocolate with Beige stripe and all I'm seeing are a couple of mild stains on the Beige. The Chocolate part is doing great.
It's mostly a question of material than anything else.

Canvas is much better for the environment and I have some going back decades

I like black better because its good with any outfit and the stain doesnt show

What kind of canvas? If it’s just plain canvas, I’d prefer nylon.

But if it’s coated canvas, I prefer coated canvas for its durability and being waterproof.
