NYC during 4th of July week

Hi New Yorkers and other NYC/Hermes experts,

I'm planning a trip to NYC during 4th of July week. Yes, I know it's still months away, but excited about it!

A very important side objective is to visit Hermes boutiques and maybe score a birkin! Will appreciate if you can offer some tips.

1. Are there a lot of tourists in NYC during 4th of July week?

2. What is the best time to visit the Hermes boutique so it's not overly crowded?

3. Have you observed any delivery day / schedule which increases chances of getting new inventories?

4. Are both Hermes boutiques (Madison and Wall St) open on public holiday and/or Saturdays?

5. Any other advice (SA friendly to tourist, boutique) appreciated

The best time to go into the Madison Ave store is when it first opens at 10 a.m. The crowds go in waves and it can be quiet all day and then all of a sudden there's a rush of people. Wall Street is much smaller and quieter, I've only been there twice and you could count on one hand how many people were in there.

But I wouldn't hold my breathe for a birkin.

I know this may sound odd, but if you can reach out to a particular SA over the phone, maybe a week before you are going to be at the boutique and ask them what day/time you can make an appointment to meet with them, they may realize you are coming into town as a serious customer. You could even give them a wish list over the phone of other items, but I wouldn't mention the 'B/K' word :p I'd look through the 'Recommended SA Thread' and read about who people have had good luck with.

And I would hit both Madison and Wall Street-- why not?

madison is open on saturdays; wall st is closed. both are closed on sundays.

re 4th of july, try calling the store to get a definite answer but i think they are open.

ladyglen - yes i think i better call.

thanks for your helpful advice. any outlook on stock availability - both hard to get items like birkin as well as regular items like belts and accessories?
