I'm so mad and upset. I bought the trench at Nordstrom's online and took it to my local Nordstrom's store for sleeve alternation. Picked it up last wk. The result was terrible.

Firstly, they did not clean up the chalk marks beforehand. Thus, I need to wait for another 20 mins for the tailor to clean them up.

Then I tried them on. The sleeves were UNEVEN even though the tailor did the measurements on both arms a wk ago. What pissed me off further was that the alternation dept mgr denied the uneven length. I finally insisted to have her bring out the measuring tape to measure. She kinda ignored me. Then I asked the SA opinions on whether the measurements were off when that dept mgr was away. They told me that I was right. I finally insisted to have her bring out the measuring tape to measure. Then she suddenly changed her tone and agreed with me.

When I examined the sleeves, I found out that my trench has become a "HOLY trench". Since the tailor shortened the sleeved, and removed then reattached the sleeves' buckles, there're more than 20 holes on each sleeves. The dept mgr again was like "it should be expected since we need to remove the original straps. Of course, there're thread holes". But then I told her that "it's not what I was told. The tailor who did the measurements on that nite told me that she would reattach the buckles /straps to where the upper original "holes". In her words, the holes would be hidden. Sorry to myself, it's not the case at all.

She then said they'd shorten the sleeves for me for free. Thanks but no thanks, since there'll be more holes as they'll need to redo the straps/ buckles.

After waiting for another 20 mins or so, a customer specialist came out and offered to refund my trench. I told her I love my trench and did not wanna refund. Just want a new one. She said it's sold out without even looking at the system. Finally the store mgr came and located another one in my size in Boston and will ship it to the store for me to pick up. She was nice enough to have me keep the HOLY trench until the pick up time so that I could wear it in between.

I'm beyond disappointed. I'll not trust them to alter it again. I think I'll take it to the Burberry store to do it even though I have to pay more. My sister said I should ask Nordstrom's to pick up the alternation bill, or ask for further discount.

However, I got this trench at a good price already. The online specialist sold it to me at the anniversary sales price even though the sale was over. BUT the trench is even cheaper now as they're having the semi-annual sales.

What should I do? What would u do if u were me? They told me the trench should be arrived by the end of this wk.

Pls advise. It never happens to me be4 to have it that bad.

Oh wow - I'm so surprised, normally Nordies is sooo awesome! Although, interestingly enough, I'm on vacation now and probably had the worst Nordies experience ever .

I would ask them to pay for the alterations but not sure I would ask for a further discount. At the end of the day, it really comes down to whether you think they will do a proper job or not. If not, it doesn't matter how good of a deal you got. I would have a serious chat with the store manager and guarantee it is done correctly. If they can't, then I'd take it to Burberry where you can trust they will do it correctly.

Good luck!!

It does look pretty bad. In general I never buy anything expensive that needs to be altered because it will normally not be the same after alteration. If something does not fit perfect I simply do not get it. Better to be paranoid in my opinion. I have not been able to get BBY shoes and I really love some but most do not come in half sizes, they told me I could have them altered but I would really prefer not to have that done, why buy beautiful expensive shoes if they get ruined? Perhaps I am too careful but I would rather be, if I am getting something like BBY I want it to be "perfect".

I picked up my trench today. They agree to pick up the alternation bill. It's a relief to have a perfect-looking coat on my hand. Hopefully the burberry boutique can do some magic on alternations. Thanks!

I'm very surprised. I had both my trenches altered at Nordstrom and they did a wonderful job on both. Took a bit longer than expected but came out looking like they were never altered. I agree with the others - you should have your alternations done for free and go to customer service and get a discount on that trench.

Hello. Did your alteration go well at Burberry boutique? Just had a terrible experience altering sleeves on my trench at the boutique. Did they shorten by bringing the sleeves up at the armhole or shorten at bottom of sleeves near buckles? So disappointed my sleeves became too tight at the armholes and cannot freely move my arms. Hope yours turned out well.
