Help ! I am so confused right now, I have done my research here but.....I would like a size between 0.5 and 1, either round or princess. That´s all I know ! how about quality, clarity, color etc....what to look for ? (sorry for the stupid questions)
Also, are some jewellers more trusted than others ?
Thank you in advance.

I'd go for Whiteflash or goodoldgold.com online.
By saying .5-1 carat are you meaning TOTAL weight or each ear?

Personally, I'd go for color range G-I and clarity SI1 or SI2 and IDEAL cut only. On your ear you can slide down the clarity and color levels but do not skimp on cut. Also, this affords you to bigger end of your size criteria.

ok, so we're looking for 1-2cttw:yes:
It's really your decision for round or princess. I prefer round because then I'm not neurotic about making sure they aren't turned at angles or anything. Also, I prefer the circle shape.
"Ideal" means the cut is superb. The closer to ideal you get, the more personality - sparkle/fire/scintillation/light return your stones will have.
But ideal = $$$ so you have to compromise a little on color and claity, but on your ears, that's no problem!

I think that round brilliants, for studs, are a classic look. You will want them to sparkle like crazy, so follow Swanky's advice and get ideal cut stones. Be sure to come back with pics when you have the goods:graucho:

I agree with the above posts. I would also add that with round stones you can always have a four-prong setting that will make them look a little square, and then if you ever want to change back to the classic round or a bevel setting you can always do that. With princess cut stones, you are always stuck with the square look. Also, I think you want a nice color for the stones(at least F-I), since they will be next to your face you want them bright (not yellowish). HTH!

DH purchased me some "starter" studs about 4 years ago. They cost $1K for a 0.5ct total weight (yes, 0.25ct per ear). They were/are ideal cut, G/VS1, and just sparkle to no end.

I used to work with a young woman who wore 1ct diamond studs on each ear (2ct total wt). However, there were several instances where people would come up to ME and say, "wow, are your earrings real??" when I was right next to her.

I agree with Swanky, quality makes the difference. Don't skimp on the cut. Good luck.
