I did like my Tiffany paresolite sparkler although I never really wore it much. Then I walked into Tiffany's yesterday and what?!? It's completely recut and redesigned and I love the new one. Why was this done? Did it not sell well? Were there complaints? When I asked my SA said "yes, isn't it beautiful?", never answering my questions. She did answer my question about exchanging mine with a big fat NO. So I guess there's nothing I can do now? Except feel bad about mine? There must be a reason they changed it right? Opinions please! Thanks. BTW I have the necklace and earrings each worn under 10 times, probably 5, although I have had for awhile.

I wonder if they changed it to make it new for the next season and stir up a riot of new purchases?

I don't know but they're sitting up a riot with me. I hate 2 things, well maybe a couple more but... when something is improved after I buy it (they don't tell you when you buy a new car that the next years model is completely different, thank God that's never happened to me or I would have to go ballistic) or something goes on sale, gets marked back up and I can't get the sale price, so dumb. It might make me feel better to buy the emerald cut ring which I do love better than the new one and is the third piece I don't have. But do I want to do that when I haven't worn the pieces that much or would it make me where them more?? Have to decide soon cuz it will change my list for "Santa". What to do??

hmmm when did you buy it? if it's under 6 months it's up to the SA or manager to do an exchange or credit for you. it could be worth talking to a manager and seeing if they can do anything for you?

Def over 6 months. They were not friendly at all till I wanted to see something in "the big girl room". I hate that.

Well, new and redesigned isn't always better! But if you do love the new style more than your current ones, then maybe sell yours and put the proceeds towards the new ones?

Well, unfortunately exchanging used jewelry is not only not easy in many places it is impossible and there are definitely valid reasons for this; the piece would be scratched even if only worn a few times and then of course there is the issue of swapping stones and such for which reason many places do not exchange at all. Jewelry is just too high value for that. The only thing you can do is to sell your piece if you can and buy the new one or enjoy your old piece. Redesigned in the case of jewelry is not necessarily better just different but I hear you. That said if you did not love them in the first place and you bought them they are not responsible for that, it does happen to all of us and it sucks if you cannot sell your pieces of course but what can be done? Fortunately, this has never been the case with me as to jewelry but then I really know what I love when it comes to jewelry but it has happened to me too with other things, clothes, bags, shoes, etc. You have to see how you feel about your jewels, if you can still love them, if not then the best way would be to sell them of gift them away and buy the ones you really do love.

I do like mine, really. It's just stinks that if I were buying today and had to choose I would pick the newer one. I do know that a lot of people might like the older one though. The newer one is a slightly darker stone, different cut and it looks larger which some may think looks costume. I took a lot of care to get the chain shortened so that my stone lies right in the middle of my throat hollow. The new one might look funny like that. I'll grow to relove mine again. I think the SA's attitude was rude which really set me off, I learned a long time ago you get more bees with honey so it takes a lot for me to be rude, which I wasn't through the whole conversation. It just seems over the past few years, no matter what store, SA's are really lacking in the customer service area of their jobs.

That really sucks, this is my biggest problem too that SAs can be so rude, sometimes even when you are planning to buy something but especially if you have a problem or just want something out of the ordinary. This should never be the case, especially not considering the company but sometimes other stores are different.

I am planning to open my own store in the next year or so as until now I have mainly worked with stones, dealing diamonds, and planning designs but I do know when that happens I will buy back, repair and in general want to offer people great service as jewelry is really not a cheap thing and people deserve the best service when they spend that much money and they should be allowed to change, sell back, etc.,though I do know it is not realistic to buy back at the same price but people should at least be allowed to pay a small percentage for an upgrade to a new version, anyhow the point is to work with people and try to make them happy IMHO. I know that means a lot to me.

I too visit other stores and vendors at professional shows and there are some that stand out. In Vienna where I now live Wempe gave me great customer service and I only brought in a piece I bought from a customer and wanted to have it checked, I was curious how old the piece was as it looked great but upon closer look I was sure it was older, they were amazing really, the service, the atmosphere, they offered to serve my pieces even other than Wempe and in general I was just treated great. That means a lot as if I was your normal customer that is the place where I would shop.
