Michael Kors not loving my hamilton??

Hi ladies!! I've had the large Hamilton tote for almost a year now, but I find that I barely ever use it. So the last time I took it out for a spin I remembered why!

I'm a shoulder bag kinda girl so I use the attached shoulder chain instead of the handles and I find it annoying the way the bag hangs. It kind of folds outwards around the top of the bag if it's not filled with something like a sweater to keep its original shape. (does this make any sense??) and because of that It's really hard to get items out of my bag unless i remove the bag and place it on a surface. I really love the color and the leather and the inside pockets, but I hate the way it hangs!! Am i just really picky?? or does anyone else have the same thoughts?? Any feedback would be great! Of course, I dont mind if you ladies confirm my over analytical tendencies lol (aka calling me obsessive/crazy) :p

I think the overall issue is one that I have as well - basically we are shoulder bag girls and satchels will never feel as comfortable for us. I have a Medium Hamilton but the same issue. I have lots of satchels from Coach too that I like because they are so pretty but whenever I switch back to a shoulder bag I just feel so much more comfortable.

I'm not sure there is anything you can do about the Hamilton - the medium works OK as a shoulder bag - I can see the large one being more of a challenge though.

I find the hamilton totes easy to wear with great access. Try a stiff bottom piece inside to help hold the shape. You can fold a canvas eco bag in thirds and place it there under your things. It does triple duty by also being available for shopping & helps the environment !!! You will find that no additional support is needed. {although I usually carry an extra layer, hooded cardi or vest on top of my usual gear.} Hamiltons are my favorites when files are included for the day. You should be able to access the whole bag without setting it down if you adjust the shoulder strap correctly, let it open against your hip with the short straps dropped.
It's OK to allow the top center to dip a little. Try it this way for awhile and soon it will feel as comfy and natural as your shoulder bags. It's an adjustment, but overall healthier for your back and shoulders because you can swing it off shoulder to hand or arm carry while you roll.:smile1:

I have 2 large hamiltons. I don't use the longer strap for the same reason, don't like the way it hangs. I use the 2 handles on my shoulder and they work great (not with a winter coat on though). Once my hamiltons broke in and started to slouch, the handles fit even better on my shoulder!

Hmm... I guess I can give that a try. I didn't really think it was an issue with the support on the bottom but I guess that could make a difference. I'll give it a try !! Thanksss :)

Really?!? I've never held it over my shoulder with the short handles because I felt that it didn't fit very well. But if u say it breaks in and slouches more then I'm up to try that too!! Woohoo!! Lol I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I thought i was just being crazy

No you are definitely not crazy! I never use the longer straps that come on bags, I do like how they look hanging on the bag, but don't like how it completely changes the look of the bag if you actually use it. Hope it works for you!

Hi there. I hope you are still able to see responses to your post since it's been a while, but I have had my Hamilton for about 9 months now. I do really like the purse (bone color with rose gold). But I found your post after googling "How do I keep my Michael Kors Hamilton from slouching?" I thought it was just me! I'm frustrated because I never mind spending money on a gorgeous purse, but I should not have to "fix" a $400 bag to make it look nice. The slouching drives me crazy so I always carry in my hands and try not to ever set it down. Ugh.:sad: I guess I'll try the sweater. Everyone else seems to love it so much so maybe it wasn't meant to be a shoulder bag at all? Anyway, thanks for your post. I don't feel crazy anymore.

Hi Carol and welcome to the forum. Sorry you're disappointed in your Hamilton. You might be happier with the saffiano leather version, which is more structured leather and won't slouch like the regular leather. Personally I'm a slouchy gal so for me, the slouchier the better!! Some ladies have used a tall purse organizer inside their bags for more structure.
