Not a shaper pillow, not a base shaper, not an organizer, is there just a shaper?

Friends, help me find the perfect shaper.

I can find shapers to keep the shape when the bag is not in use, I can find base shapers (I've made my own for my LV Speedy's that work great), I know people love their organizers, but I want something different. I would love to find something that will keep the shape, that I can keep in the bag while I am using it, but that does not have organizational pockets.

I keep organized and tidy by using little pouches, I really don't want pockets. But I do want something that will keep some of my bags standing tall and proud. I've tried to make one for a little Tod's, but it wasn't so great. Clearly, it was unprofessional, and also it was too small. If I were better at sewing, maybe I could make it happen.

Barring improving my sewing skills, is there anyone out there that knows of just a shaper?

Maybe I will figure out how to make them and then I'll start a little business and call it Just A Shaper. But let's get real, that's not really going to happen.

What is wrong with a shaper that is a pillow? I would say it is just a shaper, as it has no other function.

Most of my bags, I just stuff with tissue paper to keep their shape while I'm storing them.

Try cardboard, just cut a piece to fit the bottom of the bag. I think just one thick piece of cardboard on the bottom of the bag would give the bag enough structure to give you what you are looking for. I did this for a hobo and it helped quite a bit with floppiness. No sewing skills required.

I think i know what you mean. I usually ask the shop to customize the shaper by not including any pockets. It works for me whenever i want to protect the bag but i don't want to lose space because i use my own pouches to organize my little bits. I live in China so it is very easy to get it done in Taobao (Aliexpress) so i dont know if Samorga or the likes would do customize orders too. It doesnt hurt to ask. Hope this helps ~

I've made base shapers for Speedy's out of softish cutting boards with electrical tape to keep the edges safe and they work great as base shapers, but they didn't do anything for the sides, the walls, of the bag. Have you had a different experience with differently shaped bags?

Yes! This is exactly what I mean!

I will ask Samorga, but if that fails, I wonder if I could contact Taobao. Do they typically have English speakers in customer service? Do you recall about how much you paid for a customized shaper?

I recently made my own. The tricks for me were multiple pattern attempts and because I don’t sew, glue.

I initially cut out cardboard pieces for each side, then trimmed those to fit as much as I could. From there, I put them together in the most optimal way for folding (managing to make it one piece) and traced that onto paper. I added tabs to overlap and folded the paper on the axes of the pattern (kind of like making paper snowflakes as a kid) to cut it as symmetrically as possible. From there, I’d fold it and try it in my bag, trimming any rough edges or areas that needed it and made sure the tabs overlapped properly. Once that was done, I marked it on stiff felt, cut it out, folded it, and glued it together with clips to hold it while it was drying. It’s not as professional as some of the inserts out there, but it only took an hour or two plus drying time, was inexpensive (I used a cheap, firm felt from Amazon in case it was an abysmal failure), and it’s not like others are going to notice it (beyond posting it here).

Keep us posted if you start this business - great idea!!

Just coming back to say this is brilliant. Just bought a giant unstructured lambskin bag I love but trying to keep it semi shaped and wish I had something like this! Easy to do the bottom, but the pattern for something that comes up the side like this is harder. So clever!
