Nickel allergy from Dionysus chain?

I just bought the Dionysus woc. Haven’t worn it, but quickly realized at home that I forgot to ask if the chain in the bag contained nickel. I then asked the client services and they said it does contain nickel. Has anyone had any allergic reaction to this bag’s chain? In particular those who do get allergy eg costume jewellery with nickel in them? I am considering taking it back and exchanging it for something without a chain. But I don’t want to

I understand as I have the same concerns for myself. I have a very strong allergic reaction to nickel but have ever had any problems with G bags including my Interlocking (hw was made at the same time) which also has a chain. Even belt buckles have not been a problem (I've come out in red welts and blisters from others).

You must do what you think best but I've never had a problem.

Thank you for your reply! I’m glad to hear you have not experienced allergy from Gucci bags. I was wondering that we don’t know how much nickel it contains, we just know that it does. Maybe it takes high amounts of it to produce allergic reactions..

That's my reasoning too. I think they also may coat metal very heavily with another metal too.

I think the biggest Nickel offender is Chanel. If I don't paint the backs of my Chanel earrings with a clear nail polish, then my ears swell up in pain.

That's awful. All fashion earrings should be hypoallergenic in this age. To think Chanel used to goldplate their bags and now can't be bothered with the tiny posts of earrings.

It's amazing how may times our skin comes into contact with the hw on bags. It should all be coated if it contains well-known allergens like nickel. The hw on my Gucci BTH was actually called 'Nickel' so my SM had to have a whole long chat with HQ, apparently something was lost in the Italian > English translation. I've never had a prob with it and I've had it since 2011. Presumably it's the same metal as the Dionysus.
