Tanya, if you have a preference for a closed, secure bag vs a very open-w/magnet, that's how you can choose.
I find the tote a breezy, beachy casual thing, very easy (maybe too easy) to access. In fact, I have been playing with ways to hold the top shut a little better.
If you will be wearing your bag in crowded public places, the zip-closed shoulder style is a winner and carries *almost* as much gear as the tote. It is a much more elegant and versatile bag.
If you carry a lot, the shoulder strap on the tote is kinda thin, and can dig. The tubular strap on the bucket hobo style may be more comfy for you. (Both are lightweight empty.)
Neither have outside pockets, so no consideration there.
Think of how you most often carry your bags. Are you most comfortable with handheld + crossbody or switching shoulders ?
For travel, either would be fine (if you secure your cash and documents in the tote inner zip pocket or on your person, which could be tricky).
The Ice is so pretty and a great color to own. Give her a spritz of Rain and Stain protector if you're worried but I found Crocos to clean up easily. Suntan is very warm but just another brown. You seem to be drawn to the cooler color, does this compliment your wardrobe and skin tone ?
Right, you have a peachy, apricot coral Dylan, so Ice is different enough, giving you more/ better wear options. Are you a NY'r who wears the city's standard black uniform ? Ice will work year 'round.
PS ~ the Parker hardware is fabulous, just the right touch !
