Look at www.colehaan.com for ideas. Their bags are very good quality and affordable. If you're looking for something with a logo on it, they won't appeal to you, but they have a nice variety and nothing is too outlandish. Most bags are under $400.

d'oh. i just ordered a gorgeous black village hobo from cole haan on massive sale - the sale is still going on. final cost was <$200. it's an everyday type of bag that may work well for you. i can't believe i forgot to mention cole haan! ush:
