NewbarK Leather Flats

Jul 19, 2008

Apparently, these shoes have just come out. Thoughts? I think the shoes are kinda ugly-cute.

There's a punchy Jazz Age phrase for sore feet that puts a chipper spin on the old complaint. "My dogs are barking," as they say down South—which is what L.A. sister-stylists Maryam and Marjan Malakpour are referencing with Newbark, their clever line of sole-soothing handmade leather slippers ($350; "We love ballet flats, but it's time for something different to switch into when you're running to and from shows in Paris and New York," says Maryam, who describes the Newbark shape as "an English men's slipper meets a Moroccan babouche meets something you might find at a Japanese spa. Except these are all-terrain—indoor, outdoor, in rain, on sand, and on city sidewalks; I tested them everywhere." Launching exclusively at Net-a-Porter in just a few weeks, Newbarks, like Repettos before them, seem poised to become the next necessity-accessory. "Just like the cashmere blanket or scarf that you carry with you when you travel," adds Marjan, pointing to the matching get-up-and-go pouch that comes with every pair (and makes for a cool last-minute evening clutch, too). "We see them as an essential in everyone's life."

ive had this shape of shoes way back in my teens and then again sometime from topshop around 10 years ago or so and still have a similar pair. also had a pair that was almost identical to the Newbark.
do like them and am contemplating a pair. just find them overpriced a tad bit. if they send them me for free i will gladly testwear them though!

A lot overpriced, but they do look comfy and cute as hell. Mind you, I have only seen them in pics on the internet.
