New Wave Collection - is it weird to get the same bag in a different size?!

Hi fellow handbag lovers!

I currently own the black New Wave Chain Bag in MM size, and I absolutely adore this bag. It has all the components of a bag that I look for - chain strap that can be worn both crossbody and over the shoulder, carefree leather, structured shape, etc.

I'd like to get a new LV handbag soon but cannot find one that suits my needs!! I tried looking at different brands and came across the Gucci Marmont line, but the mini bag is not so structured, which really bothers me. After looking at multiple different brands, I still couldn't find a bag similar to the New Wave Chain Bag MM so I started considering getting the New Wave Chain Bag in PM size. However, the only colors available currently are black and red. (Does anyone know if there will be other colors soon?) I usually wear a lot of colors so not sure how to use a red handbag to my advantage... Which brings me to: Is it weird to get the same bag in the same color in a different size?!

I'd love your input and advice!

It’s not weird. There are quite a few people that have the speedy, Neverfullblack classic chanel flap bags in multiple sizes.

I’m having the same problem with Odeon. I can’t decide if I want the MM or the PM. I may just buy both!

As far as the red...... well I bought a red bag about 20 years ago. At first I only used it for a pop of color. I quickly learned the red bag was more neutral than any other bag. Red bags go with almost everything! I know own 4. I use them all the time!

New Wave is a very good looking and well made LV bag and the price point is great compare to other LV bags, go for it if you love it, but PM might be too small it's like Chanel's double flap, look big enough but doesn't hold as much, better to try it out before purchasing?

Definitely not weird at all and even very normal as well. You should get what bag suits your needs and wants, doesn’t matter what others think. I know there are a lot of members that have the same bag in the same size in different prints eg. Speedy and neverfull or same bag in different sizes eg speedy again so I say go for it!! Also the new wave collection is so pretty and understated in my opinion. The leather is amazing and such great quality and the design so simple and pretty so why not.

Thank you all for your input :) I love the Purseblog fam!

Because of the limited color options currently (only red or black), I’d likely end up getting the black PM... which means I’d have the same bag in the same color in only a slightly different size. They’d look so similar and how would I decide which size to use when?! I guess that’s my main concern as I don’t know how to use a red bag to my advantage.

@onlyk - that’s a good suggestion. I’ll definitely try the size out before I buy it!

@Bumbles if I remember correctly, you have the new wave heart bag, right? I’ve admired it before! I love this collection - the leather is beautiful and carefree.

Hi @Meesh202 - thanks for your advice! Would you be getting the 2 Odeon’s in different colors?

I’ve heard lots of people say that red is a neutral before! But my fashion sense is obviously not as developed because I don’t know how to wear red as a neutral especially when I think of my winter jackets... I have a dark red jacket.. a pink coat... how could I possibly wear a red bag with these!?

Yes that right! You have an amazing memory! I have it in black and love it. I’ve used it as a bumbag, wristlet and crossbody. I know it doesn’t fit my phone but the shape and leather is to die for. So buttery. It’s a great shape and so sturdy. You would know exactly what I mean because you have one already and another on the way!! I’m so excited for you. I’ve also been eyeing the camera bag in new wave too. I saw a blue online on Instagram and it looked amazing

Such a versatile heart bag! I'm glad that you are able to use it in so many different ways. I have the new wave camera bag! In "cherry berry" color - the darker red (versus the scarlet color for the new wave chain bag) makes it easier for me to match with my clothing. I highly suggest the camera bag to you :yes:
