When I was a kid I remember always looking at and playing with a bracelet my mum wore. It was two-tone gold with diamonds in it. It couldn't have been very expensive, as finances were tight for my folks around that time, but I thought it was so beautiful.

So my mum recently bought a very nice quality tennis bracelet, and while I was admiring it, I wondered out loud whatever became of the bracelet she wore when I was little. She laughed and said she hadn't worn that in years, and then she went to her jewelry box, retrieved it and asked if I wanted it. She thought it would be cute if my DD could admire it the way I did when I was little.

So this is my "new" bracelet. I haven't a clue as to specs, although as I said I would imagine they are pretty low given the budget at the time. It is circa 1968 or so (she said they bought it several years before I was born), and I still think it is beautiful!

The clasp:

love it! even more with the sentiment and the memories attached. It makes me wonder what my DS is going to remember about the jewelry I wear... and it's encouraging the idea of passing things on before the end, when you can see the appreciation in gift and they can remember that moment, too.

It is a beautiful bracelet. The sentiment behind it is lovely too xx

My 8 year old daughter recently told me that she could not wait until I was dead, so she could have my diamonds!! I don't think for a second that she meant it. But it did make me laugh that her jewellery love has started so young! She can have at an early age, so I can see her enjoy them xx

I love it! and I love the story behind it.

When I was a little girl I was fascinated by my Aunt's gold charm bracelet. I would always play with it and I loved the stories she would tell me about all the charms she collected in her travels.
She told me it would be mine one day and when she passed I inherited it. I cherish that bracelet and the memories behind it.
I hope your DD admires this "new" bracelet.

Enjoy!!

Aww I love that story!! My mom didn't have a lot of jewellery or budget for it either but I know how when you're a little girl you tend to gravitate towards things and admire them (especially shiny ones!) and I hope one day I can do that for my girls!!

Everyone is right; it is the sentiment that means the most. I hope at some point to buy a new bracelet much like the one my mum recently bought herself, but it could never take the place of this one. And despite the monetary value (or lack thereof), I am petrified of losing it. I can hardly bear to wear if for fear of somehow losing it. But I have to trust that the clasp that held strong for so many years on a young mum with a baby pulling at it will continue to hold under much calmer circumstances!
