Do new sales associate have less influence or power than older more established ones that have worked at the boutique longer?

With longer tenured sales associates, won’t they have more established clientele that they push harder for? So when a quota bag comes in, a newbie client falls on the bottom of the list compared to the dozens of clients vying for that quota bag. Whereas with a newbie SA, who probably doesn’t have that many clients but doesn’t have much power either. Just trying to understand who to work with if both present the opportunities.

Work with whoever you feel more connected to. The relationship will progress organically if you pick someone you vibe with. I had a more senior SA who was nice and all that, but who on a more personal level I did not connect to. Then I met my current SA who is not as senior, but who I have the best connection with, and she has been my biggest advocate. My spend with the more senior SA was also WAY higher. My advice would be pick someone who you get along with and who seems to like you - they will work hardest to be your biggest advocate

I have had a mixed experience... before I moved, I have worked with one SA for more than mmmmm 15 years or so (but she also knew my mom from another country so I guess it’s different). She is seasoned, and very, very good at what she does. She used to find things that I would find interesting, call me to come in the minute they got them, and usually I would buy them! She knew me very well, knew what I needed, and would proactively look out for them for me. I ended up spending so much more with her, not because I needed to, but I wanted to!

Now, this younger, new sales, just does not understand customer service. I asked her please call me when x and y comes in (not bags, just some random ready to wear and shoes), she never did. After buying from her for more than 2 years, she didn’t even remember my name. I actually tried to go into the store when she’s not there! In that particular store, even the manager of the rtw is warmer and much nicer to me (she remembered I wanted a pair of boots and told me about them when I came in last time).

So yeah, I can see one might spend more with the more experienced sales, but mostly because they are SO much better at their jobs (in my case), than the newer ones. I would be happily to develop a relationship with a sales if they want my business  ! Hope you will find a sales who can find what you love for you.

I had a feeling that my SA wasn’t experienced (confused basic bracelets, though who knows). But man, this guy is born to sell (after a few months found that he’s loved by ladies who shop there). Whilst other, maybe more experienced SAs say „No B/K”, he plays the game.
I gladly spent quite a lot of money with him while others just lost my long term business by saying no and not trying to establish a relationship (not to B/K, even Herbag)

bumping this thread.

Similar to new stores getting more quota bag access to build their clientele, wouldnt a new SA also get a quota bag amount to help them drum up new clients? And if they are new, they won’t have that many!

No, they won’t get extra bags. They will get the same amount as everyone else on a relative sales quota metric basis.

H SAs don't need to "drum up" business in the current environment. New SAs will have clients assigned to them anyway :shrugs:
