:heart:Hello everyone,

I am discovering this site from paris (mais oui:-))) and I NEED HELP!!!!!

I have been offered by my mother in law a beautiful kelly bag, defined as poussiere alligator, which she didnt use anymore.
To tell you the truth, with my neew baby (yes , it was a baby shower gift) , I don't have much to do with it either in my life style as of today....

However, a bigger birkin (if I could sell my alligator) would be my treasure for ever to keep.

Any idea of the price I can ask for such a birkin alligator bag in very ggod condition, she did not give me the box but it was made on demand at the time so I can always ask at faubourg saint honoré if they keep archives, plus there is the number or something hiden inside.

thanks a million,

If you haven't used it yet, you should return it to the Faubourg and ask for a Birkin that suits your lufestyle better. They will be HAPPY to take it back , give you something else, and a store credit for the balance ( I assume you do not want croc with your baby.)

Otherwise, try the various consignement stores in Paris.

Good Luck !

Ps : Is it a Birkin or a Kelly ????????

Is it a Birkin or a Kelly ?

It is a kelly (less useful for puting my baby's stuff in:-)

It was hers for a year but she barely used it which is why it is a head breaker.
I cannot bring it bag to the store and I cannot say no (to good to loose at the same time)....were only women after all.

If the worse commes to the worse, i will put in on sale on ebay but I am afraid that people might think it is from china or something..when I live ten minutes away from THE store ///

ANy idea? :wlae:

So if I understand you correctly you want to exchange a one year old crocodile Kelly for the new crocodile Birkin to store your baby's stuff in it? Am I right?
Maybe there are online sites that offer exchange opportunity, or you will have to put it on auctyion or bring it to Paris reseller and negotiate an exchange with them.
Living in the vicinity of the Paris store does not help much in the respect of selling, but you have a better chance of buying a new one.

I don't think she wants to exchange, just looking for advice on how best to sell on the bag so she can get something that fits her lifestyle better.
I would suggest contacting online or local resellers if you don't want to deal with ebay yourself. One way to judge the potential to earn on a bag is to search for successful closed auctions on ebay. Good luck!

That's a good way to llok at it...something to fit more my life style.

I am already the happy carrier of a beautiful camel birkin put the hermes sea is SOOOOOO wide :-))

Is Your MIL aware that you are planning to sell her gift?
Does she care? Did she give it to you unconditionally?
Because she might want it back in case you don't find use for you current lifestyle.
Mothers in law could be very sensitive. Don't miss your chance at receiving more gifts in the future.

but, I have to say, she is very gifted buy life in general, and said to me, I quote,

" I prefer to give it to you whatever you do with it than have it to rot in my closet or give it to some silly auction"

So, needlest to say, I feel quite free with my conscience considering i have to coope with hers :-))

btw, i had some recollection that the Hermes boutique sells some vintage bags as well. Does someone know this? I assume if yes, it would be for rare/collectors' items only.
