... and this may be the one reason why they changed the mechanism in the first place (they didn't get it right even after 40 yerars of trying all these different locks) ... the other one of course is the ease to take it on and off :smile:

I would go with the new hinge version. So far no complaints, and it is easy to remove. Your significant other can still help you lock it.

People have been waiting for this version forever. (No joke). Unfortunately, I think the two screws will be eventually phased out.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the hinge on the classic love is completely different from small love. It’s supposed to be a lot better, and the same as the medium love. Lots of complaints on the recent small loves’ hinge - I think somewhere along the years the mechanism for the small love was changed bec I didn’t see complaints when it was first released. My SA said if it breaks I have to pay for it to be serviced. Not sure if that is a new policy.

I’d go with the new hinge classic just to feel more secure.

FYI: Cartier updated all small love bracelets to have the same mechanism as the medium and classic hinge. So now all sized hinged versions lock with a quarter turn the same way.

The new mechanism has a different tab and is more secure. There is a YouTube video from October 2024 showing the new hinge mechanism vs old. As of 2025, I have been told that the old mechanism on the small love bracelets have been replaced. I am not sure if this includes the pave styles yet. Below is the video and a photo.

I think I see it on the official Cartier website.

The screw used to turn indefinitely, now it stops at 1/4 I guess. There used to be no gaps between the halves - but maybe a tiny bit at the screw area.

For the new hinge, there is a small gap in the side opposite the screw. If you have that gap (with sharp corners), then the hinge is the latest design. See pic below.

Do you spot that gap between the halves? So far it doesn’t get caught on anything when I asked someone here, so I guess this hinge is doing well so far. It is the same hinge design on the new classic love.

I sent my bracelet for lock enhancement as it had the old screw mechanism, wondering if by default they are putting the hinge mechanism or will only update the two screw mechanism to the newer one? Any idea?
