The Encore in Vegas had it's grand opening Monday night - and the only store that was not open in time was Hermes! It is not scheduled to open until January.

I will try to get pics today of the store.

Hermes really dropped the ball on this one - Chanel, Rolex, etc were all open in time, just not Hermes...

I've been told Steve Wynn owns that H franchise. Maybe it was in their agreement he couldn't open till Jan. Cause the Bellagio store wanted the Chirstmas sales, who knows? With the economy as it is, his store will eat into their sales. Just like his hotel will steal other luxury hotel customers visiting Vegas. Till the recession is over.

Mr. Wynn doesn't trip up very often. If he could of been open, he would of.

Only when a Picasso is in the room!

(Sorry for my bad joke, I couldn't resist.)

My SA said all along that it was not scheduled to open until January or February, despite what Mr. Wynn set for the Encore opening. (Paris can be stubborn!) I just spoke to her yesterday and she thinks it could be open by late January. I don't know anything about it being a Wynn franchise. But the store that is open is not suffering from the economy like other stores at the Bellagio.

P.S. I thought it was a kiddie stroller and that's why they are banned at the Wynn?

OH yeah! Picasso was known for using cheap canvas. Thank God they could restore it.

I'm a Wynn fan too. He turned Vegas into what it is today.

The info I was given about the new store came from Hermes.

I hear what you are saying OR about it not hurting like other designers, the market is more upscale with more money than Gucci's etc. customers. But with 2 in Vegas they are going to cannibalize their own market. Some of Bellagio's customers will go to Wynn's store. And the growth in their market share is not what it used to be.

Got an update from Hermes - The Encore was not originally scheduled to open until January (around the 22nd or thereabouts), but Mr. Wynn decided to open for Christmas. Hermes could not make the Christmas opening date.

Over the last couple of days, they have been trying to put up some window displays at least. I will try to take some pics later today if possible.

I can understand that! Sales have been very slow. I don't see anyone buying anything in any of the stores here. Bags that would normally fly off the shelves in the designer stores have just been sitting here for the last week. A lot of people looking, but very few actually buying.

The Encore and Wynn are both filled with strollers right now - very annoying in a large crowd! These people practically mow you over...lol Security told us they were having a lot of problems because of all the kids.

When Wynn had his art auction at the Bellagio, one of my sons was there as a bidder for a painting. He met Mr. Wynn and said he is extremely glib and charming.

Wish I would of known about that auction! Would of been before we moved here, when MGM bought Wynn's hotels.
If it wasn't for SW, Vegas would be stuck in the 80's. No great places to eat & have to go to LA to shop. Although there are those fans that liked the old Vegas. They aren't on the H thread though. lol
