These look nice, except they look very similar to the ones a few years ago with the 1973 GG buckle:

http://www.gucci.com/cn-en/styles/277522AN81G8850#

Exactly, good point, very similar. That season's 1973 with G Detail were inspired by original flap bags from 1973 (hence the name) The chain strap version bags of a season later were even more similar.

Some of the differences between the 1973 with G detail and this newer Interlocking:
Size wise, the 1973 med was a chunkier bag, slightly less wide but deeper. The interlocking G buckle is more rounded and light gold. The G strap holders and the leather/py/croc ajustable strap. Self-coloured, leather interior. It also had an integral leather-backed mirror and another compartment to place it.

This is pic of the 1973 flap with G detail, note the differences:

Here is another version of the small with a crystal buckle, it is also lined with rose leather inside and not grey

I like the 1973 buckle more. It's very stylized in my opinion, but I like the chain strap of the new bag.

Gucci actually made a similar chain version for a couple of seasons after the AW11/12, it was even more similar to the Interlocking. It must have been very popular otherwise I can't imagine they would have done such a big launch with these Interlocking. I was thinking about whether if I didn't already have one (hand-stained malachite python 1973 with G detail) if I'd consider one. I'm attracted to the orange/grey python, it suits the pal hw but my experience such cws are too busy for me. The small green is my favourite of the colours, but my 1973 is green and I also have a small 1973 with crystals, so I'd be duplication. I'm very interested in looking at them IRL though, this might be the last chance at a bag made under FG.

UPDATE

Just thought I'd give my first impressions

Went to see the Interlocking today. I think they are absolutely beautiful. Sturdy yet elegant and so beautifully made. The hardware looks much better in person too. I just wish the (polished leather) Med size came as many colours as the small, I would get a med dark yellow in a heartbeat, even a green too.

How heavy is the chain strap on these?

This makes me want to make the trip to Mall of MIllennia - I love these "new" bags - thanks for posting!

Oh yes please report back what you think

I thought I'd prefer the natural leather but actually the polished leather is sleek an sophisticated

I love these bags, are they a revamp of the Emily chain? do they have any other styles? So excited to see with Alessandro will bring.

More a revamp of the 1973 G-detail -

but if someone liked the Emily Chain Shoulder bag the Interlockings would be a safe bet. Sturdy but ladylike, still have that early 1970s vibe that I love
