New Dior bag 30 Montaigne avenue top handle bag! Good buy ? What do you guys think ?

I came across this new launched video with the information that Dior got a total new bag launched which is despite many tote bags and miss dior flap bags full with logo more classic and on the elegant side. I think it’s firstly inspired by the 30 Montaigne bag but the style and shape is much more curvaceous. What do you guys think of it ? It only comes in one size though and has a strap that’s removable as well. Could be worn just with top handle or with strap for over shoulder or cross body .

I saw on the website they have two colours available as well. Light blue and this light pink. Would you guys think this style would last ?

In my personal opinion I think it's a cheap looking bag. If I were looking for this style I would go for the Celine Nino over 30 Montaigne Avenue. Even the name of the bag feels rushed.

Thanks for your feedback , what do you think about the original 30 Montaigne chain bag with the oblique pattern ? Since this so called avenue top handle bag is an extraction of the latter one. Just curious whether that bag is found iconic at least ?

Not a fan of that one either, I'm afraid. To me there are 2 iconic pieces at Dior; the Lady Dior, and the Saddle. The Lady D-Joy, I think, is a tasteful and modern extension of the Lady Dior. The Toujour stands a chance of becoming a staple of the brand but I doubt will ever reach icon level. And Dior are trying very hard to make the 95.22 into an icon but it has not worked so far.

The bag is okay but I foresee the value dropping very quickly after a few years on the resale market. That’s a good thing if you like it enough, but not for full price, and you’re patient! I wasn’t a fan of the 30 Montaigne either personally so could just be taste… I don’t think the giant “CD” suits the Dior brand.

I kinda agree as I haven’t tried any risk yet. So far I have only lady Dior’s in my collection as I find them the best among all bags. I was quite surprised by how many new bags they have designed over the last two years and was quite curious how it worked on the market. I heard some said that the Ange bag & the Jolie bag are relatively doing well for the new comers and the caro bag had not been neglected too. Curious & thanks for your replies ☺️ I only had to now figure out what bag the 95.22 is. What a funny name though I wonder where that one came from….

Yes I never found it too elegant but I heard that it has a long history maybe it was the first bag made with the oblique pattern ? Not too sure…. Maybe the Caro compared still is better then. Def I am gonna stick so far till now for some obvious reason to my lady Dior’s . They never go out of fashion !

This bag is also new in the miss Dior collection . I find the clasp quite big but actually the colour and quilted logo pattern not too bad. But maybe just too much of logo all combined in such small bag. I have to compliment most of the Dior bags in the new collection on the colour choices but not too sure on the bags itself… 😅

I agree with opinions above that this looks cheap and unlikely to age well. Dior does not retain value well at resale, and I find their bags to be heavy.

I strongly dislike the CD logo. Plus, after the whole scandal debacle earlier this year, I'm just suspicious of everything they make now.

It reminds me of the free gift with purchase (GWP) bags from Dior Beauty, especially with the CD hardware without a lock in it and also the patent (like the plastic used on the GWP bags)

I don’t indeed like the new bags of Dior but they are surprisingly very light in weight. I found the avenue top handle bag just a bit more acceptable against the others and since it’s the newest arrival now without the infamous graffiti logo, so wonder how it it will affect. I was also wondering why the miss dior collection is so “loud”. It was almost they wanted to target a so called “new” audience 😅

I think that whole thing has affected the whole brand strongly in any ways. I remember the news of Balenciaga few years ago and I am wondering if they ever have recovered from it….

It’s funny you mention this as I heard that the repetitive logo from the new Miss Dior logo is totally inspired by the old shopping bags from Dior in the sixties! And it’s indeed the same logo as the Miss Dior beauty and the collection carried the same name.

Seems all the bags from the new Miss Dior collection is a “miss” and hasn’t affected the audience too well. I guess without also the Dior scandal they wouldn’t do “well”. As from the past only the lady Dior seems to do well but not in terms of the resale value I assume against Chanel and Hermes. But those are the only ones in that way. Besides I saw in the video they have nowadays even the Himalaya lady Dior. I was wondering if things would differ if it comes to the Himalaya bag or would it just look like a wannabe of the birkin Himalaya which is almost like impossible to get . For Himalaya leather does anyone perhaps know if the leather is usually died a lot or mostly naturally derived and how to distinguish the value of such leather in terms of different appearance of colour grading and quality or is the whole leather just repainted?

Dior has its new Ange bag with golden top handle. It looks more vintage but I bet you won’t be a fan of it either. It was right launched after the Jolie bag I heard and I think maybe the Jolie is still doing “better”
Both has top handles and are relatively new only the Jolie bag’s is also removable with the chain removable as well… I have waited to see how it would be doing but it seems I heard from some rumour the pearl in the middle of the Clasp was easy to fall off…. Although I think the design wasn’t too bad and actually quite nice I thought I play more safe if it comes to buying new designer bags styles. Some of the Dior bags previously has been even discontinued.
