My beautiful Lily has lost her chain, I got a quote today from Mulberry repairs for 150 GBP.
I live in Norway so have to include shipping and quite a bit of waiting time, I guess, covid and distance and everything taken into consideration.
The price is ok, but I am afraid it will take many months to get Lily back?
Does any of you have an idea for a replacement strap I could use instead? I have another Lily as well, and I really love the bag, but must say that my least favourite thing about it is the chain. It looks beautiful, but with bare shoulders it is not too comfortable.
So here I am at the crossroads, should I get a new chain from Mulberry or are there other solutions out there?

Have you removed your strap/chain completely? Mine is non-removable, that is why I had to send the entire bag to Mulberry for repair. I sent mine off yesterday. It will cost me about 40 GBP plus VAT to fix the leather in the chain (two small spots). In your case, if the chain is off completely, why don't you just pick up one of those clip on chains from the internet and use it instead for now? This way you won't have to send the bag off immediately and you can still use the bag. In my case, the leather in the strap was really frayed, so I was afraid to use it and make it worse. Also, my chain was non-removable, so I didn't really have a choice. If I were in your position, I would probably just buy a clip on chain and use that instead.

Actually I think I might just get a replacement for now. Mulberry customer service has been so nice and swift in their communication with me, but it´s quite a project to ship bags internationally these days.. The quote is 150 GBP but it will take months and shipping will amount to almost as much as the repairs I think.

I would do the same in your situation. You can always get a replacement for now and see how this works for you. If you still want the strap replaced, you can always do it later.
