Not enchanting. And honestly somewhat pretentious. I decided to to finally read Ulysses (mainly to keep myself from reading too much of the news, and I’m only on p 43 lol) but I don’t need a tote to announce it. ;)
That sounds like me with Thomas Mann's Magic Mountain. If I ever finish it, I definitely will be giving myself a reward, it just won't be one of these book bags.

Aren’t these the same totes we discovered cost like $50 to make. It’s high fashion. It’s all a cash cow. We pay for it because it enchants us.
Nothing enchanting about these whatsoever IMO and I also thought of the hoopla around the making of the book totes recently. After all that negative attention, they should have stepped their game up instead of this sad offering.

I love JWA and what he did at Loewe but this is taking book tote way too literally. At the prices Dior is charging now I also feel they are way too simple in design to warrant a purchase. The only allure I feel is to purchase something from his first collection at Dior but the pricing I’ve seen of this collection is really eye popping. I’m not familiar with Dior pricing but I saw on rednote that these book totes cost 26500 CNY or almost 4800 SGD and that’s really too much for kitsch.

Dior paid the outsourcers $53 per bag to sew 6 seams.

That doesn't include:
Design R&D
Any materials
Other labour
Other outsourced processes
Logistics and transport
Other utilities
Retail B&M/online fixed and variable costs
Fashion show or events
Marketing or other depts
Management
Implementation and monitoring of AURA policies (although Dior obviously severely skimped on those LOL)
Admin
Dividends and other stakeholder payments/reimbursements

However, you are correct that these canvas bags still have a huge markup, one of the biggest of all Dior bags, additionally they were one of the best selling commercial lines for Dior. Dior/LVMH are obviously hoping to start one of those 'collector' frenzy things going and get people buying multiples.

I like the Les Liaisons Dangereuses best, it works. Still, not worth the price.

If they had a Ian Fleming, Dr. NO version of the BT (I have a first ed paperback) I may have been be tempted. Otherwise, NON :blah:.

Honestly, I don't like them at all. They look like something available in museum gift shops.
I agree they remind me of these which I like but I think it’s just a rip off of a much more accessible design.
