I've wanted an 18K charm bracelet forever. I wanted a substantial one that had a little bit of weight to it, and I also wanted one that I could wear by itself (sans charms). I didn't want it to be too plain or have it be obvious that it was a charm bracelet without charms! Oh, and I also prefer an 8" chain for comfort (additionally, my hands and wrists are arthritic and won't be getting any smaller).

I looked and looked, and found that gold prices are insane. Then I looked at BlueNile and found one I loved. With a Mother's Day 10% off coupon, I purchased this. Considering the price of gold, I didn't find the price on this to be unreasonable. And with the amount my dh has been travelling, I decided I deserve this!:

The clasp is beautiful!
Are you going to fill it chockfull of charms or just a few?

I am going to start out with just a few, but I hope to fill it up over time! I am especially partial to the 3D charms with moving parts, but those are often hard to come by, especially new. It seems vintage is often the best way to go for those because so few people make them anymore.

If anyone has any good suggestions for places to buy new charms or trusted resellers of vintage 14K and 18K charms, please let me know!

I believe my first charm will be a gold windmill accented with diamonds to commemorate the trip I took with dh to Holland last fall. :D

Wow, I had never seen Jay Strongwater charms before, and they are gorgeous! I especially like that I may be able to use some of the animal charms to represent my children (symbols of the Chinese Zodiac); it seems less predictable than baby carriages, shoes or engraved profile charms.

Interestingly, Blue Nile no longer has my bracelet displayed online. I wonder if it was the last one or if they will order more? Regardless, I am just glad I ordered it when I did. I would have been devastated to wait and have it be gone when I went to get it!
