I purchased this Neverfull MM DE for my mom in May 2021. Within the first year, with light use, we noticed the one strap beginning to peel. It started to get really bad, so we end up cutting it to prevent it from peeling more. Looking at the other strap, it looks like it's beginning to peel and will eventually have the same issue.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? What should I expect for the repair process? Should I expect to pay for the repair or will they repair this at no cost?

I wish we would have taken it for repair as soon as we noticed it started peeling, but I don't live super close to a store and am a bit nervous about going in, as I didn't have the best experience last time I had to have an item repaired.

This looks serious. I hope they won't charge anything for the repair. It rarely looks like this even on bags that are very old and beat up.
It is interesting to see the cross section of the handle though.

Wow, that is terrible! I predict they'll make you pay for those repairs but I can't believe the wear here in such a short time - really makes me wonder if there was a defect or widespread manufacturing issue? I have this exact bag, 10 years old that I take on every vacation or business travel and doesn't look anything like this.

Thats atrocious!

It's only been 18 months. I've not seen cracking like that on older LV bags, let alone new ones like yours. Just goes to show that LV manufacturing and quality is going downhill. All they seem to care about is $$$. The CEO of the company is the 2nd or 3rd richest man in the world, and his entire fortune comes from LV.

I would demand they fix it for free.

What happened the last time you had to have a item repaired? I think they think that they can get away with treating customers like crap because people still buy their products even with large increases. They have no motivation to provide quality products and good service when there is such high demand.

Thank you, I am glad I posted this here. I was thinking I was crazy and that this was normal. I know that there's lots of issues with the DE leather cracking, but I haven't seen anyone else with this particular issue, let alone it be this bad on such a new bag that hasn't been used often/is well taken care of.

I am going to try to get into the store soon to see if they'll take care of it. Sucks to spend $2K on a bag, for this to happen so soon, and then have to send it out for repair and not be able to use it for 6-8 weeks.

That's good to know about yours. I know cracking with DE is common, but I haven't seen anyone with this particular issue, especially not to this extent.

You're giving me the confidence to go to the store and see about getting it fixed:lol:. I hate confrontation and dealing with these types of things, but I also hate spending $2K on a bag for this to happen so quickly. You are so right about the quality, and I am part of the high demand issue HAHA.

Last repair was for a DE pocket organizer. Similar issue on the glazing on the back pocket. That was happening within the first few months of use (minimal use - not daily) as well. After waiting a few months (took longer than the normal 6-8 weeks because it was during COVID times) for the glazing to all be replaced, I went and picked it up (they wouldn't ship it to me, so I had to drive to the store to pick it up). I made the mistake of not looking over the item well enough while in store, and when I got home and was looking at it in more detail, I realized that they didn't replace the glazing on the back pocket, just around the sides, which isn't what I took it in for repair for. I should've taken it right back, but because of the drive, having to wait in line to get into the store, the hassle, etc., I just gave up on it. I also wasn't having any luck with getting someone on the phone.

Makes me sad, but I guess I haven't had a good history with DE pieces. I totally don't mind wear and tear, either. I have another pocket organizer in Damier Graphite that I've had for 5-6 years, and it has some wear, but that doesn't bother me because I've used it so much, and the wear is what I would consider to be "normal" for the amount I've used it. My DE pocket organizer had more wear and tear after on and off use for 3 months than the Graphite one had with daily, consistent use for 3+ years. I also have a monogram toiletry 25 in monogram that I have used a ton and haven't babied, and besides the patina on the vachetta, looks brand new.
