Neverfull cinching question

Dear Purse Forum Friends:

I got a Neverfull MM in Monogram a few weeks ago. I like it more than I thought I would because I was worried about having a bag without a zipper closing.

I wear my cinched all the way, but it loosens often. Is this normal? If it uncinches already, what will it be like in a year?

Please let me know if you have the same experience? And what to do about it besides keep cinching it.

I don't know, but maybe the leather is stretching. When you cinch it, try to handle it lightly and not pull so tight. Leather stretches and heavy pulling can speed the process.

I have this problem as well and it seems to be pretty common. People often find little things to keep it cinched - I have seen people using lv locks (you can buy them at the boutique or from a speedy you own), key chains, ribbon, and different little things from craft stores. I do not use anything at this point, cause I only have used mine as a tote. Hope that helps a little!

there is a thread: neverfull never better...that shows the sides being cinched with two locks. i thought this was great and will be trying it out this spring/ summer

I too have heard of people using locks.
I've never heard of it, but a nice idea, though. The opening would be a problem for me since I change the look throughout the day based on needs. I need a larger opening at times and the cinched look just doesn't do it for me that often.

I haven't had any problems keeping mine cinched, but then again, the leather hasn't really had a chance to stretch, yet, as I've only had the bag for 2 days. I was considering using the locks for my Speedies or using some charms. Only thing is the charms might take away from the subdued nature of the bag. Any thoughts?

I just ordered a Damier Ebony Neverfull GM today. I'd heard about the cinching problem after the bag's been used for a while. It instantly came to me to use Speedy locks, because it would look very nice and also be secure. Its too bad they don't sell the locks on the website, because I would have just included them in my order. I'm a little intimidated to go into the actual store, because I've heard that the sales people are super snotty...I'm glad to hear that the locks are so reasonably priced, though. I love those locks; I'm a fan of handbag hardware!

the leather tabs that are used to cinched the bag will come loose on my nf sometimes. but with the gm slouches when it is cinched, the bag will stay cinched regardless of where the tabs are. this is one of the reasons why i chose gm.

I've never felt they were snotty (well, once). I've had lovely experiences 90% of the time. Don't let them intimidate you! They're just people, too.

Thanks Girlinthemoon...you're absolutely right, they're just people too. I wonder why that's so easy to forget in some situations? I'm glad to hear that you had good experiences with the sales people the majority of the time.
