hi guys, i'm looking for a sporty/casual watch with black leather strap.
I'm currently eyeing Oris Artelier Complication (see attached photo).
Here's a link to the official site:
http://www.oris.ch/collections/collections_detail.aspx?ln=en&watchid=67

I'm loving that it's automatic, has sapphire glass, folding clasp leather strap and day-date-moonphase feature.

I'm a lady with relatively small wrist, 7". do you think a 40mm watch is too big/manly? For Oris owners, any feedback re quality?

Are there other watches similar to this in appearance, quality and price range that you could recommend?

I've also attached a picture of Certina DS Podium Lady. I like its appearance (34mm face) and it certainly fits my requirements + budget. But I haven't really heard of Certina until I saw it displayed at a watch store recently. Based on research, it is a midlevel product of the Swatch group. If I get this, will I be getting my money's worth? Any feedback?

Thanks in advance.

I would go with the Oris. The brand is well respected among watch collectors. Just remember that does not mean it will have a good resale value. However if resale value is not an issue for you, Oris is very dependable in my opinion.

thanks for sharing your thoughts, diana.
yes, i'm actually inclined towards oris because the brand is more known.
resale value not a big issue since I plan to wear it for a long time :)

i like the look of the Certina watch too plus the price, it's half the price cheaper than Oris. but still it'll cost a few hundred bucks, so i'm apprehensive if the brand/quality is not that good.

i'm also deciding about the size, is 40mm too big for a lady? I tried it on and the round face covered the entire upper face of my wrist. The 34mm might be just right. what do u guys think?

Oris- very classic, and well made brand from what I hear (don't have one myself) the size will look fine - 7" is not small for a woman's wrist. Mine is 6-1/2 and I am a big-boned, slightly overweight woman, I wear 40mm and larger watches all the time.

i'm inclined towards the Oris. unfortunately, only the white face/brown strap version is available here. i'm still inquiring if it's possible to order. my sister recently went to HK and they have the black face in stock, but the price is like 20% higher, even after discount.

note: seems i measured incorrectly, if i ran the tape measure around my wrist, it measures 5.75".

thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts.
