The ring setting is just where the diamond can sit on it and has prongs that come up to the sides of the diamond to hold it up. So it has no bottom covering and light can just shine right through the diamond from any side. (hope that explains it. ^^)
It has side stones in G color that go down the side of the ring (not like two giant side stones, these are in the ring band that go down the rings side, about 6-7 little diamonds).

I'm trying to find a diamond that will accent the side stones and the diamond itself without coming off yellowish (if the color grade of the diamond is slightly in the "colorful" side.

I was just wondering how far can I go from the G color side stones without making the center diamond look awkward? Would anything in the I J color make it look off?

Also, it needs to be either a princess or radiant cut.. do these stones have different ways of how the color of the diamond shows? compared to a round or a pear shaped diamond?

Would fluorescence make a J (or less) stone appear brighter? ><
What exactly does a girdle make the diamond appear more/less of?

I just have so much questions.. ><
If anyone would be kind to help me figure out this diamond stuff a little better please feel free to PM me. ^^;

Thank you for reading!

Hi!

Are you referring to a tension setting?
Do you already have the setting? If so you'll need a jeweler to tell you exactly the specs that could fit. Usually the setting, especially a tension setting, is made for a specific stone.

If the stones in the setting are small, they likely aren't going to pick up too much color anyhow. But I wouldn't go past a really good I color.

Flouresence merely counteracts some yellow. My I colored stone has slight flourescence and looks very white IMO. I haven't downloaded the pics, but this weekend I took soem pics of mine under a blue light w/ a crappy camera, but you can still see the blue glow. I'll try and get them off my camera today if you want to see.

The girdle needs to be proportionate so as not to dmage easily, not too thick, not too thin.

Ah! I think tension setting is right.. but.. it also sits on the ring itself.. and four prongs come up to hold the diamond's sides. (specifically touching the corners of the square-shaped diamond).
Google images just shows up as holding the sides of the diamond and not supporting the bottom.. but is this still counted as a tension setting?

I don't have the setting.. yet. ^^;
The ring setting has a quote that says it will hold anywhere from .9 to 1.5 carat center stone.

If it's not to much trouble would I be able to PM you Swanky? :D
