I found this the other day.I'm intrigued. The guy told me its roughly 2cts.Either I'm crossed eyed or it looks like a 1ct to me :shrugs:.He told me he could send it off to be appraised but if he did he would charge more for it.I am still learning so I'm lost as all out.It sparkles etc. This ring is at a pawn shop btw.I wish I would of taken my digicam with me.I told him I was taking pics to show DH and took them with my iPhone.I had to move away from the overhead lights. Is that good or bad?Sorry for my dry ugly hands.

The pics are ginormous and I figured it'll be better to do thumbnails.

It doesn't look quite 2 crts, but looks a little over 1 IMO.
I wouldn't buy it w/o an appraisal and I wouldn't pay for it.

Not 2 cts. I guess the first question is how much $?? My gut says pass though. A simple size test would be to print out a carat comparison chart and bring it in. I would not buy it without an appraisal, it could be fake.

Ok....no its still sitting there.I think thats why I'm like i don't know because he doesn't know anything and I don't either. No appraisal no nothing.I was just curious.Swanky and Momma2 I agree with you both.

if you are serious about it, then get it appraised, even if you have to pay more in the end. and if it turns out to be not worth it, you can just walk away and not pay anything right?

i don't know i'm even more spooked.DH thinks i'm crazy. He says I need to get a GIA certified diamond and call it a day, lol. He thinks buying it blindly is the silliest thing I could do.I thought maybe I got lucky.

A word about appraisals.............it's only as good as the person doing it. A diamond can, and often is appraised for MUCH more than it's worth. Its value is what you could sell it for, IMO. Appraisals are usually a percentage of the value of what's being appraised. This has always seemed like a conflict of interest to me.

I wouldn't buy diamonds over a carat without a certified grading report.
