Ever since I turned 40 (a couple years ago), along with the pandemic, I’m on a big shift toward no logos and understated fashion. I currently own a speedy b in DE and a neverfull in DA. I rarely use them. So my question is, should I hold on to these two items because they are classics and some day I may go back to them and love them again, or sell them to release funds? I currently am in love with the NeoNoe Black Epi bag. It is understated and fits the style I’m looking for. I am worried about sellers remorse, but also currently annoyed that I have expensive bags that I don’t use. Help!!!

I’m not a fan of monogram for similar reasons as you, plus for the money you pay for these items I want more than canvas. I will only consider leather bags for this reason. I have epi and empreinte and have no regrets, I love my bags. Ditch the canvas for bags you actually want to use.

Hi, that’s hard to answer as it is possible that you will go back to them and love them again or it’s possible that you‘ll never go back to them again.
I have only Epi and Empreinte, but I never wanted a canvas bag in the first place and I‘m 100% certain that I‘ll never get one. Some people say they would rather choose a different brand for a leather bag, but I love LV leather.
Maybe wait a bit to see what you really love.

No help, as I love my canvas bags, mostly for the light weight. But so glad to see someone who enjoys Epi as I love that too! I have a bunch of vintage bags that are in fabulous condition as well as newer pieces.

If you decide not to sell your canvas and are looking for a lower cost option to the Neo Noe look at a vintage Petite Noe. I have one in black Epi from 1987 that is beautiful. I put a slider on the string and added a top handle and crossbody strap (prefer crossbody to shoulder) and it totally resembles the Neo Noe at a much lower price point.

Honestly, with canvas getting so hard to find, I would keep your two items as they are classic pieces and see what happens. I doubt the prices on them will go down so if you ever wanted to repurchase it would be hard.

If neither of the canvas bags were classics, it would be easy to recommend to sell them. But it can also be an argument for selling, because you can buy them again easily, since none of those will be discontinued anytime soon. I fear that this is something that can and should be decided based on intuition, rather than some kind of rationality. And if I were you, I would feel that the Épi Noé is the way to go.

I agree w/ @BULL . If you are in a position to hold, I would keep the classics as they never go out of style. I bought a few preowned in 2013 and the prices have gone through the roof since then. I don't carry them every day, but I do like to switch up my bags to match my outfits. When they are not in use, they are properly folded and stored in their sleeper bags.

Thank you so much for all the responses ❤️. I definitely need to sell one to buy one, so maybe sell only one instead of both. I may hold onto the neverfull because it is the only tote I own. I really don’t use the speedy b anymore because I have other top handle bags. I agree about how light weight the canvas bags are, but I found the epi bag to be light weight as well. It is also a very durable material. I’m pretty excited about making the purchase :)

I was going to recommend selling one. I'm biased, but I'd keep the Speedy...but makes sense to keep the NF since you don't have another tote. And I totally get how you feel about being more understated during/after the pandemic. I am also looking for Epi...specifically the noir Cluny BB, as that feels just right when I head back into the world. I will still use my canvas bags, esp the speedy b for travel, but I will not commute on the train to an office as regularly anymore (yay!), so looking for a basic black purse...good luck!

I wouldn’t sell the canvas bags since in the future they will only get more expensive. But maybe part with one that you think you wouldn’t keep long term for the trade of obtaining a black Epi bag.
