I am new to Balenciaga and I have to say I have learned soooo much from reading this forum over the past month. Thanks!

:wonderingNow here's my question: after much deliberation on color, I finally decided to start with a black day. I bought one a couple of weeks ago but I'm not sure about the leather as it feels a little dry ( although I'm not sure how the older bags feel ). I have asked my SA to get me another one to compare and she is. But, I've read a lot about 08 leather not being as good, fading, etc. What should I do??? Will it soften?

i haven't really been updating myself but i don't recall reading of fading issues (already?!) for 08 black leathers. i did read of sucky leathers in the shopping thread under BalLA. there're some beautiful 08 black bbags here.

did you try comparing the black day to other colours for dryness? i suppose if they all feel the same then perhaps dryness is not an issue? do they look dry as well?

Thanks! I had ordered a different bag that I didn't love due to the style but the leather was amazing--it was magenta. No, I don't think the leather on mine looks dry. That's a good idea--I'll compare it to another day. I think I'm just paranoid about getting the perfect one and I'm obsessing too much instead of just enjoying my bag!

Hello and welcome.I didn't buy one but tried on a few Days last month in NYC and all were very soft but veiny and did feel 'dry'..I am certain they'd soften with use and could be moisturized after you used it for a while..sounds as though you are on top of it by trying out a different one fron your SA

Hi jillo and welcome to TPF! Glad to see another Atlanta Bal addict aboard!!

I just saw a black Day at Neiman Marcus here in Atlanta and it had great leather. Is that where you got yours??? It is the only store here that carries them other than one other that usually only has several in the Slim style and the giant hardware city.

You are probably like me in that you obsess over your bags. Yours is probably gorgeous and I don't know what the other ladies mean by "dry" as most all of the ones I have seen and touched are soft and slouchy.

Yes it was a Neimans. Hopefully mine was the one you saw. There was another one but it had a green cast to it. Paige helped me. She's great if you ever need anything. If I don't like the other one better I will keep this one-I'm sure it will soften over time and/or with conditioner.

From what I read here on the forum, most of the girls just find after using it for a couple of weeks it softens up beautifully. I, personally, won't use the conditioner because it takes the shine off of the bag most of the time and I wouldn't like that. Maybe if you just squeeze and squish it, it will soften. I know it will after some use.

I know most of the Sales Associates at Neiman's, and I think I know who Paige is, but I use Dennis. He is the best!
