Horsebit mini 100%. While I’d almost always choose leather over canvas, I’m personally not a fan of the Marmont line. Plus the horsebit with the Gucci monogram is such a classic!
I have been leaning slightly more towards the Horsebit mini. I'm a pretty casual dresser and the Marmont super mini feels a little bit more formal. I already have the Diana mini and I use that for more dressy special occasions. I'd like to use one of these as an every day bag.
I was in love with the horsebit mini, but the strap is too short for crossbody. CA confirmed it is a shoulder bag, and that was the deal breaker for me sadly. Strap drop is only 19.7". The Marmont chain is more versatile (crossbody, short shoulder strap, waist bag). It has a true crossbody drop of 23.6".
Im pretty tall (5’11”) and I like the way the horsebit mini looks crossbody on me. I suppose it depends on where you like it to sit. On me, it’s between my hip and my rib cage.
I tried on the Gucci horsebit in store a few weeks ago and love the bag but the issue with this bag is that the leather cover snap button will wear over time. It was showing wear on the floor model that I tried on hence I decided to pass on it. I might reconsider it in the future but right now I cant get it out of my head.
I recently returned the horsebit. It was too boxy and capacity was really limited. Although similar capacity to the super mini marmont, I feel a bit more play with the Marmont due to the softer leather. I found the horsebit a little underwhelming. I would buy the Marmont out of these two choices.
I love the look of the horse bit- the equestrian look is so classic, but the horse bit line is sooo rigid and runs really small. Gorgeous bags, but they wouldn't work for me. I have 2 Marmonts- a medium flap and a small camera bag. Love them both.
So I had mentioned before that I just bought the horsebit mini… I’m debating returning. I like the look but I feel like it should be less expensive for what it is.
Ditto. This was one of the reasons I returned mine. I have gone for the Blondie camera bag instead.
That is interesting to hear that the floor model has some wear. Mine showed a lot of wear after less than 3 weeks wear! I took it back to the store and they said this horsebit is one of their bestsellers and they have not had anyone having similar issues. They will not refund me the money, I was only given a store credit. I used the credit to buy the blondie camera bag and found that it has some issues with the glazing and the stitching - went back to the store - this time different manager was on and I was given a full refund!
Needless to say I have been banned by hubby from buying Gucci
I'm sorry to hear that, but glad you were able to get your money back.
For balance, just to reassure others, I've had a Horse-bit 1955 for 2 years and it's still like new.
