Hi All! I’m travelling to London soon and want to use this chance to buy a bag. I can’t decide which one! I am looking for a good quality leather bag that can serve as a day time to night time bag if need be, so has to be small. I have a budget of around $5000, but I may even try to buy two bags with that.

The mini Jodie ( in white has been on my mind forever) but I know that Color transfer can be a pain for that.
Was thinking of maybe the Celine triomphe or box bag in brown, but think it might not be dressy enough for night time .
The fendi first in a neutral Color , but I’m not sure if that can be an everyday daytime bag

Basically I would love to buy all of them, but I can’t decide what would be best.
Would love your input or suggestions to any other bags that would fit the criteria! Thankss

the last time I was in .London, there was no VAT refund and no real savings,
so I would compare prices carefully before purchase.

Color transfer is a function of your clothing not being color safe. Not any bag

while I love bottega, resale value is so low that I recommend buying reseller at a steep discount
and saving ones retail budget for other brands

I also recommend looking at Loewe. I love my mini puzzle

have fun shopping!

ETA: @m_fq , i unclip the strap from my mini puzzle and carry it
by hand for dinners out. . . but if you want super dressy for night and an everyday practical bag for day,
not sure, perhaps a Dior caro or bobby?

Thanks for that input. I was considering the puzzle as well but decided against it cause it seems too casual for night time.

Surprised to hear about the no VAT refund in England though, thought it was around 12-13% at least.

So fun! Have fun on your trip and enjoy the shopping :)

This is a tough one… since you are posting in the Bottega thread I’d recommend checking out the small Andiamo as an option; I know it has more of a casual look but I think the small could look dressy enough for nighttime (depending on what the nighttime event is) if needed - I absolutely adore my medium as my everyday bag, it’s super functional and I’ve gotten tons of compliments on it, but the medium is def too big for nighttime. The small is so cute - and love the new east west silhouette (and colors!) as well! However it is up there on the high end of pricing for sure …

Other than that I also have the Dior Bobby but I think personally it’s too casual for nighttime use and the opening does get kind of annoying sometimes. I do really like the Dior Caro too if you’re into that silhouette/ look - definitely checks the box of a day to night look.

Not sure if LV is your style but my very first designer bag was the pochette Métis in black empriente leather when I was looking for a nice designer bag to use day to night/ all the time, and it’s still probably one of my top favorites and go to bag for travel! It is sooo functional, the leather can withstand everything and it’s definitely dressy enough for nighttime use too. Love the look of the Celine triomphe but I think the lack of a back pocket would annoy me - I have the soft teen 16 and if it just came with a different strap it could totally be a nice nighttime bag too, but the fabric strap def gives it a casual look. I love the look of the regular 16s too although it looks like the small/mini ones wouldn’t fit a ton for everyday use … but def would be cute and look good for day and night

I haven’t personally bought a Loewe bag yet but definitely drool over a lot of them! Although I think the puzzle is a bit too casual for nighttime use too. Maybe the flamenco or some of the newer styles? Oh and Fendi! I looove the Fendi first (haven’t pulled the trigger on one though) but I think your instinct is right that the design probably wouldn’t be the best for an everyday bag, more of an occasional use I would think. I love my Fendi peekaboo but they are also getting priceyyyy now. But could be worth checking out the mini/small sizes in person and see if they fit the bill :)

Hope that’s somewhat helpful but if anything have fun with it!! I love planning for a bag treat / shopping on trips :)

Unfortunately since 2021 there is no longer any VAT refunds for tourists in the UK. There were talks of VAT refunds coming back under PM Liz Truss, but she didn’t last long enough to implement it.

Are you visiting anywhere else in Europe? Paris is a quick train ride away and you can get VAT refunds there

Basically I would love to buy all of them with the help of Priceva, but I can’t decide what would be best.

It would be interesting to know what you ended up buying.
