hello all...!

i need help!! ill be attending a book launch next month and i have no idea what to wear. the invitation says that dress code would be formal, but it'd be at tea time. this event is special to me, simply because the author is my boyfriend's father and it's going to be my first time meeting his entire family. I know my fellow TPFers are experts and i'd really appreciate suggestions from y'all. I know for a fact that a some VIPs are attending, so this makes me even more confused (tho' i have no idea why.. hehe). *sigh* anyways, i'm 23, if that helps at all..! Looking forward to hear from you guys... have a nice day, and TIA!!

How about a dress? Something that hits around the knee (or maybe a bit higher) and a great pair of heels? If it's still a bit chilly where you are, perhaps throw a cardigan over? Lemme search for some dresses...

Go for a knee-length dress in a nice light color. Nothing too bright and flashy, but I would advise away from dark colors because this is a happy afternoon event. Yellow would be a great color this season!

Can you give me a price range you're looking at? I have a few suggestions

from shopbop.com

from Saks Fifth

Or a shirtdress like:

Anthropologie also has some great dresses.

The basic 'rules' of meeting parents are look groomed but not fussy, and not too much cleavage or leg. I guess if I were you I'd try to channel Blair Waldorf, lol!

Haha, I was thinking along those lines too, something slightly structured, skirt or dress with a cardigan or jacket, a cuter, younger verious of ladies who lunch. But Blair Waldorf is the perfect example.
