I purchased a used Coach duffle online a couple of years ago. I was surprised that it was in nearly perfect shape for a good price. It’s that deep Oxblood red and very nice. I carried it for a while and after a few months it definitely needed some TLC. I have washed several of my good leather bags in the washing machine with a little Murphy’s Oil Soap. They’ve all come out looking almost brand new and my newest acquisition was no exception. The bag looked great and after it dried, I used Macguire’s leather conditioner on it. Beautiful! I had brought the bag and conditioner to our automotive business that day to put the conditioner on and I was going to let it hang and sit a while before I took it home. Well, that evening hubby helped me gather my things and he placed my bag in the trunk of my car. When I took it out later I could’ve died!! Apparently he had also placed the bottle of conditioner inside the bag and the cap was loose!! So now, on the bottom of one corner of the bag is a big, dark, greasy spot. I was so bummed because I had been so excited at how gorgeous the bag turned out! I returned it to the washer to no avail. I’ve tried blotting with paper towels and even cornstarch to see if I could get some of the oily mess to absorb out. It’s only on one corner, not a big giant spot but it’s very dark and noticeable. Is there ANYTHING anyone can think of that I might use to help remove this stain? I appreciate any suggestions!
