I just purchased this MJ on Ebay. I know it is real..it is just way dirty and perhaps dry. The inside is super clean though.

I live in NYC... does anyone have experience with Artbag, Modern Leather Goods, or Fordham Repair to clean suede and light leather? What kind of investment do you estimate I will have to make? I paid $129 on Ebay for it. I am crazy about the style and sand color. Any advice would be great! TIA

I havent dealt with those places, but I did just have my MJ black Stam Hobo cleaned inside and out for $35. Just be sure to make a list of any imperfections on the bag before you send it in and include it with the bag when you drop it off - I got mine back and there was a new rub on one of the tabs and I couldnt prove it hadnt been there, they took it back and put new leather color on it, but still...

Pretty bag BTW, and good deal on it!

OP, I don't think the bag has a specific name. I think its just called a Double Strap Satchel? I know it comes in Bordeaux, Blue, and Chocolate as well. It's from F/W 2004.

Thanks weN84, needanotherbag, and iluvmybaggs.
I live in NYC so I can go to Artbags, Fordham Repair, and Modern Leather Goods.
Just wondering of anyone here knows from experience - what place can get the job done and the best price? I sent these same pics to luvinmybags for a price quote.

i've heard amazing things about artbag, but they're the most expensive. i wanted to have a bag customized, and my mj sa recommended that i take it to modern leather, which also does a great job, but happens to be more budget friendly. kmroboto took one of her mj's to modern leather and i know her experience was a positive one. i haven't heard all too much about fordham leather. i'm sure all three of these companies will do an excellent job fixing up your bag. i'd wait until i received the price quotes before deciding where to go. good luck and keep us updated!

I've only used Modern Leather Goods but I was happy with their service. It was more expensive than I was expecting but they set the price before I left it so there were no surprises at the end. I had taken in my 1st season Stella to have it's handles re-stitched and to maybe have them fix the piping on the corners. In the end I only got the handles fixed and it was about $48. Sorry, I don't have experience with cleaning but I would trust them with it.

Great color. You're fortunate to have local specialists you can bring the bag to. I asked Lovin My Bags for an estimate one time and they're expensive. Look forward to seeing pics of your bag after it's cleaned up.

ask LUNA about this. she has/had one or two im almost sure....burgundy and dark brown. she knows a ton about this style... i think it's from around 04, pre-striping line....the same line that weird lil stam-ish bag came from...

I think the former Bag Borrow or Steal (I can never remember their new name!), offers some type of bag restoration service now too - maybe check with them as well

I wouldn't take the bag to Artbag if you're looking for a good price. I would DEFINITELY take your bag to Fordham leather repair (they're right around the corner from my work!) .. I took an MJ bag in to have a quote, only to take it out the same day (MJ Repairs helped me out with my problem!) but they definitely have experieince dealing with Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Louis and all over designers. You should see the amazing amount of bags that are in the place.

I believe the guy's name is Steven? You can leave the bag there and he should be able to quote you a price by the end of the day.

By the way, this is a bag from F04... called simply the Double Strap Satchel, no fancy names. I own this in bordeaux and chocolate brown, also comes in this camel color and a navy blue.

congrats on the great buy! Once you get her cleaned up, you'll love it even more!
