Hi all. Well, I picked up a really cute bag from Macys, the black leather Poppy Rocker bag. When I got home, I checked to see what other colors the bag came in and of course with it on sale at Macys, it was no longer showing up on Coach's website under the style # any longer. I came across a posting of a fellow PF member having problems with the handles cracking or peeling on her blue one. But then I came across a photo of someone who had both the blue and black and although hard to tell from the photo, there may have been a quality issue on both bags. Is there a known quality problem with Coach's Poppy Rocker bags? And if there is, did it apply to both the factory bags and the FP bags? Hope you guys can provide some feedback. I really like the bag and its been sitting on my table, tags still attached, for I'm hesitant removing the tags and using it until I can find out more info if there is indeed a leather quality issue. Thanks in advance!

Oh yes, I had that problem. I bought the cobalt back in February. It sat for awhile and maybe a month later I loaded it up and started carrying it to work every day. One day I noticed the cracking handles and I was SO upset! I loved that bag so much. I really didn't want to part with it and I even kept carrying it. It didn't seem to get too much worse but it was very noticeable to me, especially in the sunlight. And I kind of knew they were all gone and wouldn't be able to get it replaced (and figured it would happen again so why bother?). I searched for posts on this issue and couldn't find any.

Anyway, I finally returned it this past weekend and was also able to use my PCE and got a large marine Kristen. I loooove that too, but I still miss my rocker! :shame:

The leather on the handles of poppy bags are known to have this problem. I never bought a poppy bag, partly due to this issue, until the highlight came out. I have two highlights, a black pilot and opal sequin, and I've used them quite a bit. I haven't had any issues with the leather cracking or pealing.

I say keep it and use it. If you don't have any problems then great, but if you do them I would take it into coach for a merchandise credit.

Thank you for responding. I am like you, love the Rocker size and style. I may just keep it and cross my fingers.

Yes, the leather on these bags have issues. DONT let the store tell u it is wear - IT IS NOT - it is from the leather. I had one and took it right back

I am glad that several of my PF buddies responded to my aid! The Coach customer service # acted like it was the first time she had ever heard of it and the CS at the factory store also claimed she was not aware of any problems. Now that I think about it, both of the Coach responses were EXACT words! They must be instructed on how to respond to such a question. I even asked the Coach customer service 800# how she could respond so quickly without even getting the style # of the bag from me hmmm. The CS at the 800# went further to tell me Coach warrants against hardware and stitching and I repeated my question, what about the leather? She never did respond about the leather itself. Thanks for responding, I may decide to go ahead and try using it; however if it starts to even begin having a problem, I will take it into Coach for a credit. My problem is I have quite a number of bags and may need to make a point to carry this one continuously for a period of time, otherwise, if I rotate like I normally do too much time may lapse even though I may have carried a limited number of times.

kkrozybee, thank you for responding. I am going to follow in your footsteps and use the bag and if a problem arises, I will take it into Coach. I did buy it at Macys but that shouldn't be a problem w/Coach.

I was at the Coach boutique recently and I overheard a girl talking to the SA. I didn't see the damage myself but she was showing the handles on her Poppy bag to the SA and she said "Are the handles supposed to do this?" The SA said "No, actually they are not supposed to do that!" The girl said "Can it be repaired?" and the SA said "I don't think it can be repaired, you will probably receive a 40% credit."

She asked her to come up to the desk so that she could assist her. She wasn't concerned about where it was purchased or if she had the receipt or anything like that.
