Hello ladies,
In the past I have splurged on small hermes items, I have a few Twilly's, a plisse and a set of medeor scarf rings.

However I have always lusted after Hermes leather goods, and as luck would have it my husband is travelling to Germany in July to race the Nurburgring and pick up his life long dreamt of IWC big pilots watch.

He will also be travelling through Amsterdam, Belgium and London so plenty of opportunity to step into a Hermes store.

Like most women, I love the look of the Birkin, but it doesnt really suit my lifestyle, so I am happy to look for other alternatives and i have fallen in love with the Lindy. Its a bit hit and miss in the sydney store and there isnt always a big bag selection.

So my questions to the amazing Hermes forum goddesses are these: given the difficulties with Birkins, how hard is it to acquire one in the above mentioned countries?

what in your opinions are the best colours/leathers to look for?

and what is hubby likely to expect one to cost in euros?

many many thanks in advance

I can speak for London and the Bond Street store that I have always seen multiple Lindys there....as for color/combo that is up to you but I love an etoupe Lindy!

I have a 34 in black clemence PHW, I love it although in retrospect I should have gotten the smaller one, mine is a bit on the heavy side and after a few hours my arms hurt. Thank goodness I can swing it on my shoulder.

I 've seen it in clemence, croc and swift. Clemence is the best imho, soft and durable. Swift might get scratched, croc is very expensive. I like her in black, rubis, and etoupe.

Last time I checked the 34 is 4,150 euros.

I don't think it is that hard to find lindy in Sydney store! Just rang them up and find out what colours is available, because many of the bags is at the storeroom! Plus they can also search other H store in Aussie, for lindy!!! Good luck

I have been acquiring small Hermes items over the last few years, a few twillies, and some Medor scarf rings.

Lucky for me, my husband is about to go to Germany to indulge insome racing on the Nurburgring and to pick up his long dreamt of Holy Grail watch, the IWC Big Pilot.

I say lucky for me because he has promised to bring me back something orange!

I would love a Birkin, but for me its just not practical. So a lindy it is, I have always thought it a beautiful bag and for my lifestyle would work very well.

My question is this, how much can he expect to pay in Euros for a lovely lindy (not thinking of exotics) and given he will be in Germany, Amsterdam, Belgium and London where is the safest place to actually be able to find one.

I am not fussed on colour (anything would be amazing) but what are the chances of finding a Poitiron or an Etoupe?

many thanks in advance

I know poitron is not available any more, but as Kat said I have seen Lindys on the shelves in London. I just saw Ms Piggys swift etoupe 30cm lindy the other day and it was absolutely perfect. I think the price is around £3500GBP for a 30cm.

I agree. The Sydney store has quite a few lindys, not all are on display all the time. Give them a ring and you will be pleasantly surprised. Even if they don't have the color or size you are after, they are very helpful in checking other H stores in Australia. I was in a hurry to get a Lindy two months back because I decided I wanted to use it to travel instead of my birkin, they couriered it in the next day for me to pick up and fly off! This was all organized by the lovely Sydney boutique SM. She's wonderful. Having said that, if you have a chance to get it in Europe, by all means, coz the price point is probably a lot more attractive than OZ. Good luck in your Lindy hunt!

thank you everyone for your fabulous advice.
have decided that will go into the sydney store to purchase a couple of scarves for the coming Autumn and while Im there, I will ask about the Lindy, try it on and decide on a size/colour and leather.

I am still going to get Hubby to pick one up in Europe, not just because the price point is more attractive but because he is really keen on doing the "luxury" shopping thing on his own and surprising me with what eh chooses, and after all, who am I to stop him (wink:wink)

so I will hopefully be taking "delivery"of my Lindy on the 6th of July..Yippee!!

(how on earth will my Chanel caviar tote cope with the fact that she will no longer be my favourite)
