My 40th birthday and 18th wedding anniversary is coming up next month and I have informed my hubby that I would like a white gold anniv. band. I currently have a 1.70 yellow gold ering and a 1.00 yellow gold wedding band. I am at a point in my life where I don't wear yellow gold any more. All my jewelry is either white gold or silver. I just think it looks better on my skin tone. So, I have been trying to figure out where to go and what kind of specs should I look for. Whats okay. I have told him a 1.00 carat or more. No less. And it has to be 5 stones or 4. My wedding band is 18 stones making up 1 carat. I want something that I can wear by itself, everyday. I have been looking around but cant find anything really great. Most are around H-I-J which is fine but the clarity is not so good, I think. I1 or I2. Can you see that when you are looking at 4-5 small stones lined up? Please give advice. I want to keep the price under $3,000. Thanks for your help. I read up on the e ring thread but the specs are different for a ring with multiple small stones. Thank you.

Thanks AntiqueShopper, I checked out BlueNile but the minimum carat weight they start with is 1.50. I would like to see the options of a smaller carat weight just to cover all my bases. I don't necessarily want the bigger stones. Just something that is good quality for a good price. I have time so maybe if I check back with them later, they may have gotten more inventory in. Thanks.

I have checked out Littman jewelers and Kay jewelers and the color is I-J but the clarity is an I. Does that mean that I can see just looking at the top of the ring I can see blemishes and imperfections in the stones? Looking at the rings in person, they seem beautiful but looking at the specs, not so much.

I clarity means that you should be able to see the inclusions. They are visible to the naked eye. However, round brillant stones, if cut well, hide some of these issues. If I1 is ok, then Ross Simons seems to have a pretty good deal, IMHO.

If you'd go up another 1k, there is a killer band on Jewels By Erica Grace, if you like antique jewelry.

It is the 2.5 carat Old European cut band half way down or so- it has the color and clarity you want. It is beautiful!

Also, for more modern:

1 ct in white gold for $2200, F/G color, VS clarity

Thanks for the input. The problem is my hubby is very old school (old fashioned) and I know he would never buy a diamond ring online. He has to go to a jeweler and look at it and do the whole diamond ring buying dance, lol. I know, its silly, but that's the way he is. I know he wouldn't feel comfortable buying a diamond ring that costs 1,000's on the internet. You know? I guess I'm looking for your experience with rings of this type and what is a decent quality diamond for these types of rings. I would be very happy with a H I or J color diamonds but the clarity thing is really throwing me off. Thanks again for the info and understanding.

My DH was like this until I explained to him how much more we could get in terms of quality, cut and $$$ by buying from an online vendor and besides, as long as you go with a reputable one they will have a return policy :smile1:
