Need a vent - looking forever for the 'IT' bag, and now it disappoints

I just need a vent - been looking forever for a style that would suit my needs and eventually decided on the YSL medium Moujik. Did a lot of research and found a nice pre-loved one and bought it. Just got it and even though it looks nice, the flap won't stay closed; not sure if the magnet is just tired or if this is just characteristic of it... it doesn't appear to be 'broken' in any way but just won't close easily (difficult to get it to close and when it does, it won't stay closed properly). As it is pre-loved, I can't even return it. So annoyed...!

Have you had similar experiences with a bag you thought would be perfect? And, if anybody could recommend a similar style bag with a top handle that would have a proper clasp, that'd be great...!

Thanks for letting me vent ;)

Buying preloved is always a bit of a gamble; it can go hideously wrong but sometimes it also ends like the happiest, most romantic movie you ever saw. You might want to contact SL CS about your issue with the magnet - they will most likely be able to give you a straight answer and also a quote on replacing the magnet is possible.

Yes, pre-loved is always a bit of a gamble, I just thought I had done my research well enough... I am beginning to think that it is just the characteristics of this model. Will ask YSL what they think and if they can suggest anything... a structured top handle bag appears to be too difficult to find...!

There's Miss Sicily, LC Madeleine, Coccinelle has one as does Prada, if I remember correctly. There are several options fro different manufacturers.

Not exactly, but I have been burned by buying a bag that I thought would be a workhorse for carrying my laptop, related paraphernalia, plus wallet, keys, cosmetics bag, the usual. The bag itself turned out to hold everything quite well -- where I got burned was in not paying attention to the strap that was too thin for when it was fully loaded. It really dug into my shoulder and just wasn't comfortable. Now, I pay as much attention to the strap as to the bag and imagine wearing the bag when it's carrying a normal load instead of basing my judgement on how the bag feels at the store when it's stuffed with nothing heavier than some tissue paper.

I have had two bags with magnets that just weren't strong enough. I loved the bags and don't care about resale so I superglued those round velcro patches over the magnets and they both stay closed now.

Look at the LV Cluny or LV Bond Street. Identical in look to that YSL, but with much stronger magnets. I think the Cluny is coming up on resale sites more often.
Thanks - funnily enough, I was contemplating the Cluny, but decided against... may have to look at it again. Ideally, I'd like something that has the top handle a bit shorter and dropping to the side nicely when not in use; similar to the DG Sicily (Sicily is great but the shape is not working for me).
