Need a basic black satchel - Coach Sabrina or Prada Vitello Diano?

I need a basic black satchel that also can be carried on the shoulder. The two bags that I think I like best are the:

Coach Sabrina

I thought I'd be able to take my time about choosing, but Coach seems to be phasing out Sabrinas in favor of a similar model that I don't like as much. Obviously, Coach is cheaper - $498 vs. $1,150 for Prada. Another factor is that I already have 5 leather Sabrinas. (I like 'em!)

I hadn't been planning on buying a black satchel until next year, but if I want a black Sabrina, it looks like I'll have do it now. If I decide on the Prada, it will probably be two years until I get it because I'll need to save for it. (Plus I'm saving for my first LV too!!)

Prada/Coach/Prada/Coach eeney meeny miney moe!!! What do you think?

Well based on the info you gave, I would say get the Sabrina. By the time you save up for the Prada above, it will be sold out and then you'd have to find one on eBay or something. I was looking a 2 similar bags the other day on Zappos. One was an Elie Tahari bag....http://couture.zappos.com/n/p/dp/59018148/c/16835.html the purpley/fuchsia lining is TDF, and the other one was the Marc by Marc Jacobs classic Q Groovee bag.http://couture.zappos.com/n/p/dp/56251485/c/3.html Both very similar to the Madison, with shorter handles and a longer strap to wear on the shoulder. Maybe check those out too. I have the Spectator Sabrina in grey, I'm using it right now and it's one of my favorite bags. I don't think you can ever go wrong with the Sabrina.

I was looking at the MbMJ and it says "synthetic" pebbled leather - does that mean that it is fake leather?:nuts:

I WOULD say the Sabrina, but I was forced to return mine to JAX for repairs (or replacement, whichever) because the brass logo plate was chipping off badly. A lot of Coachies are having this problem too. I would probably wait and order the newer Sabrinas instead (they're renamed "Audrey", btw).

I believe the pebbling look is synthetic, and not the leather itself. I love MbMJ bags BTW.

If you can afford it, I vote Prada since you have other Sabrinas in your collection. I love the Prada leather bags.

If you can't afford it, either get the Sabrina or keep looking.

If you already have five Sabrinas then I'd change it up, and (personally) go for the Prada. Two years is a while to wait, maybe you should just get the Coach. It sounds like you really like the Sabrina.. either way, they're both beautiful! Good luck deciding.
