Nano Sac de Jour vs. Alma BB

Hi Everyone! I also posted this on the Saint Laurent forum, but I'd like input here too. I'm trying to decide between a Saint Laurent nano Sac De Jour (I'd like a light croc-embossed version, maybe not exactly the color below but a light neutral), or a Louis Vuitton Alma BB (perhaps in the color Galet, which has been sold out for months). Which would you choose? I welcome all your feedback. Here are some initial thoughts:

1. Closure--the Alma might win here because of the zip closure, but hopefully a croc Nano would be difficult for someone to reach into?
2. Shape--I go back and forth on this. The Sac de Jour is boxy and it's clean lines seem very classic and versatile. The rounded shape of the Alma is classic as well, but perhaps a bit more mature looking?
3. Quality and durability--it seems that both croc embossed and the epi leather would be hard wearing. Any good/bad experiences with either?

These bags are so similar. I have 2 SDJs (1 nano and 1 baby) and 2 Almas (1 BB and 1 MM). I use my Alma BB the most out of the 4. This is a very tough decision as I do think both bags are classic beauties. They’re both versatile as they can be used hand held, cross body, or over the shoulder. I rarely zip my Alma BB when out so having a zipper is weighing my decision here. I guess I’m leaning a little more towards the Alma BB as it’s been around longer and will most likely never be discontinued. Neither of SDJs are cross embossed so I can’t comment on that part and both Almas are in Epi and it’s a very hard wearing material.

Honestly it’s probably because of the color. I love blue bags and my BB is in the denim.

I’m sorry I can’t be more help. I really have no preference. I think a lot of people are going to lean towards the Alma BB since it’s been around forever and is a true LV classic.

Both are beautiful bags and you can’t go wrong. To decide, I’d suggest considering what other bag shapes you have, and what kind of “vibe” works best with your lifestyle and wardrobe. I find the SdJ more work/tote-ish so it gives off a business-y but slightly edgy vibe, whereas the Alma has a very lady-like, almost cute feel.

I haven’t owned either other than an Alma PM, so can’t comment on how they are to use. But guessing the SdJ holds more and is easier to use. I really liked my Alma PM but as the other poster mentioned I typically left the zipper partially open for easy access. Because of the shape, sometimes my hand would scrape on the zippers reaching in.

Thank you, that's such a helpful way to look at it. I have 2 other luxury bags--an empreinte Twice and a Siena PM, both of which have straighter lines at the top. An alma would provide a different feel with its more rounded shape, but I love all the color and leather options on the SDJ (I am looking for a muted non-black neutral, so the epi color options are more limited). I wish I could go to the stores to try both on, but am avoiding that due to COVID. I will continue to think about it. Thanks again!
