DH & I have been invited to a Marine Corps Ball in November. I bought 2 gowns--the same--1 black; 1 teal. They are floor-length, sleeveless, slinky (in a nice way), with a rhinestone "buckle" at the waist (it looks kind of like the Chanel c-c logo, LOL!) I'm not sure which 1 I'll wear, but I will wear my Art Deco-ish (modern) emerald, diamond silver necklace & coordinating earrings regardless. The black one looks better on me; if I wear it, I may wear my new sterling, onyx, with emerald snake bracelet. I do have a silver/diamond bracelet, but I kind of like the unusual look of the snake:

Thank you! The bracelet will look much better here than on me! :D

I collect snake bracelets. Even if I don't wear this for the ball, I'll wear it for everyday.

The Marine Corps Ball is quite formal, so I wonder if the bracelet is too funky? Any opinions? My dress is very simple. I tried on my Greek key diamond bracelet with it, but it lacked something, so I thought this would look better. The clutch purse I will carry is rather simple, pleated, black matte satin, with a silver clasp.

That bracelet is really cool! You'll have to post pics when you go!

I forgot to mention that the onyx beads are faceted. I've never liked the modern trend of faceting onyx--until now. The beads sparkle so much (I'm now calling it the "black caviar" bracelet!). They sparkle a little more than faceted jet stones in antique jewelry. The pic makes them look smooth (which is what I thought they were, when I impulsively bought it online last week--I missed that part of the description).

wow is lovely~!

Thank you! As usual, the pic doesn't do it justice.

I'm like a little kid with a new toy--I couldn't save it for the ball; I wore it today!

Of course, last night, after it arrived, I surfed for it online elsewhere, and realized I could have gotten on clearance for $20 less...oh, well!
