You may remember my post the other day about my new Nicky Butler necklace. I wore it to a New Year's party tonight, and the beaded strand broke. We were walking in a dark parking lot, and I think I found all of the beads...I'm really unhappy about this. It wasn't cheap, and it was such a gorgeous piece. I was planning on buying more, but I don't think I will! Has anyone heard of problems with quality control with NB jewelry? Thanks!

(I was so miserable, we left the party right after that, and didn't even stay for midnight!)

You must be so disappointed, it was gorgeous! Definitely worth taking it back to the store or calling up since it shouldn't have broken so easily. Even then though, they might only offer a replacement which will probably have the same quality problems.

Was it on thread? If so you can get it repaired pretty cheaply onto jewellery wire or nylon thread then it won't snap again if it's done properly.

I can't return it to the store, as I bought it on eBay. Luckily, it was the beaded part, which could be re-strung--I may even be able to do it myself. I'll un-string the good side of strand, and re-string it as well--on stronger nylon beading thread. The existing thread was doubled over, which is correct, but it looked like silk thread--and the kind that "Bombay bunches" are strung on (the temporary silk thread that stands of pearl beads used in India, where this was made). I'm going to count how many beads I found last night; if some are missing, we're off to the restauarant now that we can see in the daylight! Thanks for your advice!!!! Happy Near!

We found all of the beads! We went down to the restaurant; fortunately, they hadn't cleaned up the outside, as evidenced by the trash and ashtrays, etc. It's amazing how far a bead can bounce! And the brick path had dark holes, just the size and shape of the dark purple beads...such fun...:D Sure glad hubby's job in the Persian Gulf War was finding landmines (he was a Marine).

I'm so happy that your husband found the beads!!

I lost a giant chandelier earring and the only place it could be was our condo, my car, and the gas station pump two blocks away. I sent my husband to find it (like 4" long, bright gold) and he couldn't. :(

I'm so sorry to hear your necklace broke. :( I own about 5 NB pieces and have never had that happen. I don't own any beaded pieces though, just gemstones and metal.

I'm betting someone took it. I've lost large single earrings in stores, and they were never turned in. I'm sorry that you lost it!
