I did it! And I'm very happy. The center modified brilliant cushion is 1.21 carat. It is a GIA stone and "F" color , VS2. No florescence and other dimensions fall in the recommended ranges. I know many people on the forum prefer the look of much smaller pave diamonds in a halo. Mine are 2 pointers on halo and band and the wedding band below. I already own a round stone set in a halo with much much tinier diamonds and was going for a different look this time. I'm very pleased and feel like I got a decent deal. For diamond, setting and the wedding band - it was an even $10,000. But.....it is also all in white gold. I have 3 other diamond rings set in platinum and wanted something different this time. Very very comfortable on and extremely white and sparkly!

Thanks! Got into jewelry big time all of a sudden. Now I have my eyes on a tennis bracelet. Might do a layaway mid August if they will let me pay it off over 6 months or so!

Thanks everyone. I was nervous because I went against some advice and personal opinions here. But I did a tremendous amount of research. And I know I could have spent a little more to get a cushion of better quality. But VS2 is fine for me. I see no inclusions even with the loupe. I know there is a feather and a natural according to my GIA report. But to me all I see is white and sparkly. I'm very happy.
